Junction Auto Sales is hosting a Stuff The Van event to benefit Geauga County Job and Family Services through Dec. 10. Donations of new toys and clothing and nonperishable foods can be dropped off at Junction Auto Sales GMC or Chrysler buildings. Donations will be donated to the families on Dec. 18.

Monetary donations will also be accepted. Make checks payable to Special Services and include Sponsor a Family in the memo portion of the check.

Holiday Volunteers Needed

Volunteers are being sought to pick up and deliver meals for the upcoming holiday season. The Geauga County Department on Aging volunteers will deliver meals to seniors who are alone on Christmas Day, Dec. 25.

Volunteers pick up one holiday meal per route at the Chardon Senior Center, drive it to the senior’s home and spend some time visiting.

All meals are delivered from the Multi-Purpose Senior Center, 12555 Ravenwood Drive, Chardon.

Dorothy’s Porch Giveaway

A free giveaway of clothing for the family, household items, bedding and linens, Christmas items, toys and books will take place Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday from 9-10 a.m. at Celebration Lutheran Church, 10621 Auburn Road in Chardon. The event is free to all.

PCC Chili Dinner

Nov. 30, 5-7 p.m.
Pilgrim Christian Church is holding its annual chili dinner at 202 S. Hambden St. on Chardon Square. Tickets will be sold at the door.

GEL BREAKFAST

Dec. 1, 7:30-9:30 a.m.

Education leader panelists will share how their classrooms are changing how students learn today at the next Geauga Economic Leadership (G.E.L.) breakfast at KSU Geauga, 14111 Claridon Troy Road in Burton.

Panelists include school superintendents: Tamee Tucker, iSTEM Early College High School; Michael Hanlon, Chardon Schools; Nancy Santilli, Kenston Schools; Richard Markwardt, West Geauga Schools; Robert W. Hunt, Chagrin Schools; and moderator Jennifer Felker, Geauga County Educational Service Center.

Breakfast and networking begin at 7:30 a.m. followed by the presentation at 8 a.m. Free and open to the public. Registration is appreciated.

G.E.L. Breakfasts are sponsored by Geauga Growth Partnership and Kent State University at Geauga.

Craft Fair, Santa Breakfast

Dec. 2, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The SkillsUSA Chapter of Auburn Career Center presents the annual Winter Wonderland Extravaganza Holiday Craft Show and Breakfast with Santa at 8140 Auburn Road in Concord Township. Admission to the craft fair is free. There will also be a Chinese auction.

The all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast with Santa from 8-11 a.m. with pictures available for $1. Cost is $6 for adults, $4 for children 5-12 years old and free for children 4 and under. Lunch items will be available in the afternoon for $4. Proceeds benefit the SkillsUSA student organization.

Breakfast With Santa

Dec. 2, 8:30-10 a.m.

Parkman Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring Breakfast with Santa at the Parkman Community House, 16295 State Route 422. Bring a camera and take one’s child’s picture with Santa and enjoy a breakfast a scrambled eggs, sausage and pancake breakfast. Pancakes With Santa

Dec. 2, 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Chesterland Rotary Club is hosting its 27th annual all-you-can-eat pancake and sausage breakfast with Santa at the West Geauga High School cafeteria, 13401 Chillicothe Road, Chester Township. Families can join Santa and his special friends, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, face painters, elves and others.

Tickets are $6 per person at the door. Children under 1 year old are free. Every child receives a free gift.

A framed 4-by-6-inch color photo with Santa is $3.

Lighting of the Greens

Dec. 3, 4-6 p.m.

The Russell Township Historical Society Lighting of the Greens featuring Santa, refreshments and gifts for the children will be held at the historic Russell Town Hall. The community is invited to attend.

Pearl Harbor Day

Dec. 7, 11 a.m.

American Legion Post 459 is hosting a Pearl Harbor Day commemoration at the Burton Square gazebo. Members of the post will conduct services honoring service men and women. The public is invited.

Claridon Cookie Walk

Dec. 9, 9-11 a.m.

Claridon Congregational Church will hold its 18th annual cookie walk at the church located at the intersection of Mayfield and Claridon-Troy roads. A wide assortment of holiday cookies and candies will be offered at $7 per pound; boxes provided. The church is handicapped accessible.

Holiday Cookie Sale

Dec. 9, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Ladies Auxiliary of the Chardon Eagles FOE 2261 is holding its sixth annual holiday cookie sale at the post located at 317 Water St. in Chardon. Cost is $6 per pound. Proceeds benefit the ladies auxiliary scholarship fund.

Army-Navy Game

Dec. 9, 2 p.m.

Tickets are available to watch the Army versus Navy game at Chardon VFW Post 6519, The game starts at 3 p.m.

Italian sausage sandwiches and rigatoni will be served during the second quarter. There will be a $300 reverse drawing held at halftime along with football boards, side boards and 50/50.

Donation is $15.

Dems Celebrate the Holiday Season 

Dec. 9, 6-9 p.m.

The Geauga County Democratic Party will host a holiday celebration dinner on at the Geauga County Democratic Headquarters and Social Hall, 12420 Kinsman Road, Newbury. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Guests are asked to bring a nonperishable food item for a local food pantry.

Additional parking is available on the far eastern side of the plaza.

A Christmas Tea

Dec. 10, 1:30 p.m.

Friends of WomenSafe annual Christmas Tea will be held in the banquet room at St. Mary’s Church, 401 North Street in Chardon. The theme is “A Regency Christmas,” commemorating the 200th anniversary of the death of Jane Austen. Amy L Patterson, a noted authority on Jane Austen is the featured speaker. Guests are invited to come in costume, dressed as their favorite Jane Austen character.

Doors open at 1 p.m. Tickets for the lavish gift raffle will be on sale. The three-course tea service begins at 1:30 p.m., catered by UpScale Eats.

Tickets are $45 per person, with a vegan/vegetarian or gluten free meal available by request. Children 12 and under are $20.

Cardinaires Christmas Concert

The annual Cardinaires Christmas concert and luncheon will be held at Mary Yoder’s Amish Kitchen in Middlefield. Doors open at 11:45 a.m.

Cost is $20 a person, which can be paid by cash or check at the door. Make checks payable to Middlefield Chamber of Commerce.

Luncheon and Bake Sale

Join for lunch and a bake sale at Aurora Inn, 30 Shawnee Trail, Aurora. Pat Tuttle will deliver an inspirational message “I’m Singing in the Rain.” Bring a baked good treat.
