Geauga Farmers’ Winter Market
Jan. 13, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Join the Geauga Fresh Farmers’ Market winter market every other Saturday starting Jan. 13 at Lowe’s Greenhouse, 16540 Chillicothe Road, Bainbridge Township.
Warm up in the greenhouse with coffee and samples, and pick up farm fresh meats, vegetables, fruit and maple syrup.
Local artisans will provide handmade soaps, teas, aromatherapy, jams, fresh bakery and more.

VFW Shrimp Dinners
Wednesdays, 4:30-7:30 p.m.
Chardon VFW Post 6519 will offer a breaded shrimp dinner during its Queen of Hearts drawing Wednesday nights in January at the post located at 752 Water St. Donation is $7.
Geauga County Tea Party
Jan. 16, 6:30 p.m.
The Geauga County Tea Party will meet at the Geauga West Library, 13455 Chillicothe Road in Chester Township. Meet the candidates for GCTP president and vice president, Tom Niewulis and Scott Andrews.
Following the election of officers, Judy K. Zamlen-Spotts, outreach community coordinator for the Department of External Affairs, Louis Stokes Veterans Administration Medical Center, will discuss the many health benefits available to veterans, some of which that may not be widely known. She will also answer questions from the audience and meet with anyone who may have questions about a specific issue.
Dems Lean in on Immigration Reform
Jan. 18
The Geauga County Democratic Party will host its monthly spaghetti dinner served with a hot topic at the Geauga County Democratic Headquarters and Social Hall located at 12420 Kinsman Road, Newbury. The after dinner topic of discussion will be “Lean in on Immigration Reform.”
Join local community members in a conversation with regional immigration advocates Victoria Chavez-Kruse, Rita Danks and Kathy Flora. Get informed on issues impacting immigrant communities regarding civil rights violations, overreach and the inhumane tearing apart of local families. Learn how to be part of making change in immigration policy.
Doors open at 5:45 p.m. for networking, followed by dinner at 6:15 p.m. and the hot topic at 7 p.m.

CV Herb Society Meets

Free Breakfast

The men of Ledgewood Christian Church are hosting their free monthly community breakfast at the church located at 8261 Kinsman Road in Russell Township.
The menu includes pancakes, sausage, salmon patties, juice, coffee and tea. Ample parking is available in front and to the rear of the church building. All are welcome.
Farm Bureau Membership Kick-Off

The Northeast Counties Farm Bureau, serving Ashtabula, Geauga, Lake and Trumbull County farm bureaus, is announcing their membership kick-off and benefits showcase at St. Mary’s Church Hall, 103 N. Maple St., Orwell.
Earn prizes by participating in the chili cook-off or dessert bake-off (pre-register with the farm bureau office); corn hole tournament; and bring a friend, sign a friend – new or renewal – all memberships count. Learn about farm bureau benefits from company representatives.

Burns Dinner and Dance
Jan. 20, 5:30 p.m.
The Scottish Heritage Association of Northeast Ohio will hold the 259th Robert Burns Dinner and Dance at the Villa Croatia Party Center, 34900 Lake Shore Blvd. in Eastlake.
Tickets are $45 per person and $20 for children under age 12 and include dinner, dancing and entertainment by Lochaber Pipe Band, Great Lakes Pipe Band, Willoughby-based Celtic band Plaid Sabbath and the Jenny May School of Highland Dance. There will also be Scottish Old Time Dancing throughout the evening to the band Celtic Rush.
Tickets will not be sold after Jan. 13. Visa and Mastercard are accepted. A 10 percent discount will be offered to active SHANO members and to purchasers of complete tables of eight, nine or 10 seats. Payment must accompany ticket orders. To pay by credit card, call Lynne May at 440-442-2147.

An Evening of Wine

The West Geauga Lacrosse Club is holding a wine tasting evening at Chuck’s Fine Wines, 23 Bell St., Chagrin Falls, with all proceeds going to support the West Geauga Schools lacrosse program.
Middle school lacrosse is open to seventh- and eighth-grade boys and girls, and lacrosse is a varsity school sport at WGHS.

Boy Scout Spaghetti Dinner

Parkman Cub Scout Pack 4076 is hosting a spaghetti dinner and Chinese auction at Parkman Community House, 16295 Main Market Road. Carryout is available.
Presale tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for youth ages 5-12. Tickets at the door are $9 for adults and $6 for youth ages 5-12. Children under 5 are free.
Chinese auction tickets will be sold throughout the dinner. The drawing will take place around 7 p.m. Winners need not be present.

Groundwater and Well Maintenance
Jan. 30, 6-8 p.m.
Geauga Soil and Water Conservation District, Geauga Public Health, Geauga County Water Resources, and the U.S. Geological Survey are collaborating to present “Well Educated: A Deeper Look at Groundwater and Well Maintenance” at the Notre Dame Educational Center, 13000 Auburn Road, Chardon. Free and open to the public, the program will feature an overview of groundwater in Geauga County, the public’s role in maintaining water wells, the importance of testing and other protection strategies and helpful resources that are available.

Beginning Beekeeping Class
March 10, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Ashtabula County Beekeepers Association is sponsoring a beginning beekeeping class at the OSU Extension Building located at 39 Wall Street, Jefferson. Topics include knowing the equipment, installing bees, hive management and much more.
