The Geauga County Republican Party will hold its annual Lincoln Day Dinner at the Tanglewood Club, 8745 Tanglewood Trail, Bainbridge Township. The VIP reception begins at 5:30 p.m., with general admission at 6:15 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m.

Keynote speaker is state Sen. Frank LaRose, the 2018 Republican candidate for Ohio Secretary of State.

Taste of Maple

April 8, 12-4 p.m.

The Maple Producers of NE Ohio are offering a free Taste of Maple at the Heritage House on Chardon Square. Come taste the difference and choose one’s favorite from Golden Delicate, Amber Rich, Dark Robust and Very Dark Strong.

Kiwanis Maple Sales

The Chardon Area Kiwanis is still selling maple syrup and maple products at the Heritage House on Chardon Square each Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and during the Maple Festival, April 26-29, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. All profits from the sale support the scholarships Kiwanis awards to graduating Chardon High School seniors and various other community projects.

What’s Brewing At Chesterland Historical Village

April 8, 2-4 p.m.

The Olde Town Hall at Chesterland Village will feature “What’s Brewing at the Village.” All the vintage buildings will be open for tours with docents available to answer questions. The event is free.

Meet Mike Ford, owner of Grandpop’s Hop Farm in southern Ohio followed by home brewer Jeffrey Bayzath. Sue Ingrassia will also be offering history of spirits in Chester Township with “Intoxicating Tales.” Sample some brews in the Olde Town Hall for $1.

Upcoming events include “Riding The Rails of the Interurban Railroad” on May 6 and the Wool Hollow Art and Quilt Fest on the Village Greens on June 3.

Safety/Security Forum

April 9, 7 p.m.

Morning Star Friends Church, at 12550 Ravenna Road in Chardon, is hosting a safety/security forum in cooperation with the Geauga Emergency Management Planning Task Force. The purpose of this meeting is to provide guidance and direction related to developing safety and security procedures and precautions for faith-based agencies within the Geauga County area.

The forum is open to all faith-based agencies within Geauga County. No registration is required.

Chardon Chamber Luncheon

April 10, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Chardon Mayor Jeff Smock will deliver his “State of the City” address at the Chardon Area Chamber of Commerce’s member luncheon at Wicked Woods Golf Club.

The public is welcome. Registration and networking begin at 11:30 a.m. followed by the program from noon to 1 p.m.

Cost is $20 and reservations are required.

Genealogical Society Meets

Historical Society Features Hamilton

April 11, 7:30 p.m.

Bainbridge Historical Society will present a program on Alexander Hamilton at the Burns-Lindow Building located at the corner of Chillicothe and Solon-Bainbridge roads. Barbara Hesse, club member and retired history teacher, will highlight colorful stories about the historic Hamilton and the blockbuster Broadway show. Visitors are welcome.

GCP Entrepreneur Success Breakfast

April 13, 7:30-9 a.m.

Geauga Growth Partnership’s Entrepreneur Success Breakfast features Darrell McNair, president and CEO of MVP Plastics Inc., a certified-minority injection molding company serving the automotive, medical and industrial markets.

The event begins with networking and a light breakfast at 7:30 a.m. followed by a program from 8-9 a.m. at Kent State University Geauga, 14111 Claridon Troy Road in Burton.

Chinese Auction and Dinner

April 14, 5-9:30 p.m.

The St. Helen Unicycle Drill Team will be hosting a spaghetti dinner and Chinese auction fundraiser at St. Helen, 12060 Kinsman Road, Newbury.

The unicyclists will also perform during the event, showcasing their skills and talents. Event includes a Chinese auction, 50/50 cash raffle and a $1,500 first place cash raffle.

Audubon Highlights Alaska

April 17, 7 p.m.

Blackbrook Audubon Society presents a photographic visit to “Majestic Alaska” at Penitentiary Glen, 8668 Kirtland-Chardon Road in Kirtland. Photographer and graphic designer Alan Studt will take attendees on a tour of Alaska along with Gail Franko, co-host of WKYC Channel 3’s “In the Sky.”

Geauga Dems Address Fiscal Innovation

April 19

The Geauga County Democratic Party will host its monthly spaghetti dinner served with a hot topic at the Geauga County Democratic Headquarters and Social Hall located at 12420 Kinsman Road, Newbury. The after dinner topic of discussion will be “Working for the Future of Ohio: Accountability, Innovation, and Opportunity.”

Join in a conversation with Rob Richardson, candidate for Ohio Treasurer, who will discuss his plan for fiscal innovation through the lens of his work as a community activist and what he can bring to this office as a leader not a politician.

Doors open at 5:45 p.m. for networking, followed by dinner served at 6:15 p.m. and the hot topic at 7 p.m. Suggested donation is $10.

CV Herb Society Meets

The Chagrin Valley Herb Society will meet at the Bainbridge Library garden for an “Awaken Our Gardens” workday. Members should bring gloves, tools and a bag for cleanup.
