CV Herb Society Meets

April 20, 9:30 a.m.

The Chagrin Valley Herb Society will meet at the Bainbridge Library garden for an “Awaken Our Gardens” workday. Members should bring gloves, tools and a bag for cleanup.

All members are welcome to come for the soup luncheon at 12:30 p.m. Bring a tea mug and soup bowl.

Ledgemont PTC Chinese Auction

April 20, 6-9 p.m.

Ledgemont PTC is hosting its third annual Chinese auction at Ledgemont Elementary School, 16200 Burrows Road. Drawing will be held at 8 p.m.

Tickets are five for $1. Big ticket items are $3 each or four for $10. Tickets for the 50/50 are $1 each or six for $5.

Jungle Terry will perform at 6:30 p.m. Refreshments will be available for purchase.

Red Wagon Spring Luncheon

April 21, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Christ Child Society of Geauga County is holding its 28th annual Red Wagon Spring Luncheon at St. Noel Party Center in Willoughby Hills. Guest emcee is Jenn Harcher, Channel 8 meteorologist.

The luncheon will feature signature gift baskets, along with spring plants and flowers.

Bingo, Raffle for Scholarships

American Legion Post 459 Ladies Auxiliary is hosting a bingo and raffle for scholarships at the post located at 14052 Goodwin St. in Burton.

Raffle starts at 7 p.m. Raffle tickets are $2 each.

Admission is a non-perishable food item, personal hygiene item or cash donation to a local food bank.

Refreshments will be available. No food for consumption may be brought in.

All proceeds will fund the scholarship program and Buckeye Girls State.

VFW Breakfast and Raffle

April 22, 9-10 a.m.

Chardon VFW 6519 Auxiliary is hosting an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet and raffle at the post located at 752 Water St.

Drawing is at 10:15 a.m. Giveaway is $300. Donation is $15.

Purses & Pastries

April 22, 2-4 p.m.

Friends of WomenSafe is hosting Purses & Pastries at Bainbridge Town Hall, 8353 Bainbridge Road. Guests must bring a new or gently used purse with an inexpensive, wrapped white elephant gift inside for the purse exchange.

The event also includes a raffle for a new designer handbag, games, prizes, pastries and beverages.

Listening for Understanding

April 24, 4-5:30 p.m.

Leadership Geauga presents “Listening for Understanding” at Wicked Woods Golf Club and Banquet Room, 14085 Ravenna Road, Newbury Township.

Panelists John Karlovec, owner of the Geauga Maple Leaf, and Ken Douthit, owner of the Geauga Times Courier, both local media publishers and business owners, will help us better understand how to apply active listening skills to the reading and hearing of news particularly around key business and societal issues. Monica Bricker-Thompson, United Way Services of Geauga County, will moderate the panel.

Trinkets and Treasures Sale

The Federated Church of Chagrin Falls will hold its annual Trinkets and Treasures sale of household and kitchen goods, art and antiques, sporting equipment, holiday decor, gently worn clothing and accessories, children’s toys, electronics, jewelry and more at the Family Life Center, 16349 Chillicothe Road in Bainbridge.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, half price bag day.

Shop the “First Opportunity to Buy” event on April 25 from 5:30-8 p.m. Admission is $10 on Wednesday only.

West G Senior Talent Show

April 27, 7:30 p.m.

West Geauga After Prom is sponsoring the annual Senior Talent Show in the West Geauga Middle School gym. Come to show early to see art exhibits by senior artists.

The talent show is open to all West G high school students. Tickets are $5 at the door.

Come before the show for the Beck Thompson pasta dinner benefit being held from 5-7 p.m. at the middle school. Dinner tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children.

Audubon Cruises to Conneaut

April 28, 8 a.m.

Blackbrook Audubon will bird the lakeshore for early migrants starting in Conneaut Harbor. The group will proceed to Walnut Beach in Ashtabula to check for land birds such as hermit thrush, kinglets and swallows. Bring binoculars, a spotting scope and dress for the weather.

Bluegrass Jamboree

April 28, 6-10:30 p.m.

Hambden Grange is hosting Mark Posey’s Bluegrass Jamboree, featuring bands M & M Express and Young & Blue. The Grange is located at 9778 Old State Road, Chardon.

Tickets are $10 at the door and food stand is available.

50 Gun Bash

May 12, 11 a.m.

Ducks Unlimited 50 Gun Bash will be held at the Geauga County Fairgrounds, 14373 N. Cheshire St. in Burton

The main raffle will be drawn at 1 p.m. and the last at 5:30 p.m. One gun will be given away every five minutes. Food served from 1-4 p.m.

Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Tickets are available at all Great Lakes Outdoor Supply stores or from any Ducks Unlimited committee member. Gun list is posted on www.NortheastOhioDU.com and winner’s list will be posted after May 15.
