Youth Football, Cheer Registration

Online registration for Chesterland Lions Club youth football and cheer is available at www.chesterlandlions.org\footballthrough June 16.

Splash Party

June 8, 1-4:45 p.m.

The Chardon Community Action Team (CCAT) will be hosting a splash party for local residents. With the participation of the City of Chardon, the splash party will be held at the Chardon Municipal Pool, 316 Maple Ave. Entry is free.

Flea Market Sale

June 9, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Peace Lutheran Church will hold a flea market, rain or shine, in its parking lot located at 12686 Bass Lake Road in Munson Township across from Munson Elementary School.

VFW Golf Tournament

June 9

Middlefield VFW Post 9678 is holding its inaugural golf tournament at Pleasant Hill Golf Course, 13461 Aquilla Road in Chardon. Check-in is at 10 a.m. with by tee off at 11 a.m. Format is four-person scramble and there will be cash prizes for first, second and third places.

Cost is $65, which includes awards, raffle entry and meal after the tournament.

Chagrin Arts Music Crawl

June 9, 6-10 p.m.

Chagrin Arts will present its fifth annual Music Crawl at various venues around downtown Chagrin Falls. Presented in part by the Chagrin Valley Chamber of Commerce, the event is free and open to the public and highlights the incredible talents of local musicians.

The event coincides with the Valley Art Center’s 35th annual Art by the Falls held in Riverside Park on June 9 and 10.

The schedule for Music Crawl is available at ChagrinArts.org. Artists are subject to change.

Words and Wine

June 12, 6:30 p.m.

Words and Wine, a monthly poetry reading series held at Rider’s Inn, 792 Mentor Ave. in Painesville, will feature Ray McNiece. A resident of Northeast Ohio, Ray has earned a national reputation as a poet and performer.Open mic will precede his reading.

United Way Coffee and Conversation

Join for a cup of coffee and casual conversation about the impacts partnership with United Way is making in the community. Sessions will be held at 8 a.m. June 13 at DS Cakes & Sweet Café in Newbury, June 14 at Coffee Corners in Burton and June 20 at Panera Bread in Bainbridge.

CV Herb Society Meets

The Chagrin Valley Herb Society will meet at the Bainbridge Library to mingle over refreshments, discuss the success of the recent herb sale and enjoy a gardening, cooking and tasting presentation with Judy Strauss, of The Charmed Kitchen.

Ice Cream Social and Concert

CVCC, Geauga Growth Partnership and Newbury Area Kiwanis are sponsoring a free ice cream social and concert in park featuring No Moss at Oberland Park, 14639 Auburn Road, Newbury.

Bainbridge Historical Garage Sale

June 16, 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The annual garage sale hosted by the Bainbridge Township Historical Society will be held in the front yard of the Bissell house and historical museum, 17870 Chillicothe Road.

A variety of goods will be offered, including some furniture.  Proceeds help underwrite costs of the museum, including newsletters, programs and to purchase artifacts. The museum will be open during the sale.

Residents who wish to donate items to the society, excluding clothing and computers, should contact Barbara at 440-543-3235 to arrange for delivery.

Great War in Costume

June 16, 12-4 p.m.

The Geauga County Historical Society will hold the grand opening for its fashion exhibition “The Great War in Costume, 1914 to 1920” at Century Village Museum, 14653 East Park St. in Burton.

The program will include a presentation by well-known local fashion icon Dixie Lee Davis on “How WWI Changed Fashion Forever” and a high tea.

Tickets are $35. Space is limited.

The exhibit will continue to be open for public viewing, without charge, for the remainder of the summer and early fall on Fridays from 12-3 p.m.

GOP Golf Outing

June 22

The Geauga County Republican Party will hold its annual golf outing at Fowlers Mill Golf Course in Chester Township. It will be an 18-hole scramble that includes lunch and a steak dinner as well as drink tickets, golf cart, games and prizes, including a cash prize for the winning team.

Registration starts at noon with a 1 p.m. shotgun start and dinner at 6 p.m.

Golf packages are $99 per person and dinner only is $40 per person. RSVPs are due by June 18.

Annual WG Alumni Reunion

June 29

Anyone who attended Chester, Russell and West Geauga schools is invited to attend the 138th annual alumni reunion at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 11900 Chillicothe Road, Chester Township.

Social time will start at 5 p.m. followed by a buffet dinner at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person. There will be a cash bar and “split-the-pot” raffle.

The West Geauga class of 1968 will be honored for its 50th anniversary. Classmates celebrating 55, 60, 65 and 70 years will be honored as well. Entertainment with a “Walk Down Memory Lane” will follow dinner.

American Legion Steak Roast

Newbury American Legion and Auxiliary Post 663 is hosting its annual pre-Fourth of July community steak roast in the Hunter Pavilion behind the Post at 11008 Kinsman Road in Newbury.
