The Russell Township Trustees have scheduled a concert on the lawn next to the Russell Township Administration Building, 8501 Kinsman Road.

Russell Twp. Lawn Concert

Aug. 23, 7-9 p.m.

The Russell Township Trustees have scheduled a concert on the lawn next to the Russell Township Administration Building, 8501 Kinsman Road. The Swamp Rattlers will perform a concert of classic rock and blues that is appropriate for all ages.

Bring chairs and flashlights. Limited parking is available at the administration building, township recycling center, town hall and the gravel lot south of the police station.

Middlefield Chamber Golf Outing

Aug. 24

The Middlefield Chamber of Commerce’s sixth annual golf outing will be held at Rolling Green Golf Club in Huntsburg. Cost is $75 per player or $300 per team. Event includes skins games, proximity games, long drive contests and prizes for first, second and third places.

Registration is from 7:30-9 a.m. Tee off at 9 a.m. Event is a four-person scramble and includes lunch at the turn and dinner following golf.

Gumbo Dinner

Aug. 25, 4:30-7:30 p.m.

Most Holy Trinity Parish is hosting its “fifth and one-half” annual Louisiana-style Gumbo Dinner at the church located at 8549 Mayfield Road in Chester Township. The halfway to Mardi Gras event includes a raffle and door prizes.

Eat in or take out. Donation is $15 per person and $8 for children 12 and under.

Twilight Soiree

Aug. 25, 5:30-9:30 p.m.

The Foundation for Geauga Parks will be holding a Twilight Soiree at the new Claridon Woodlands Park. The event includes a raptor presentation by Harvey Webster of the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, interactive displays featuring Foundation projects, dinner and drinks, live music by the Real Deal String Band and a silent auction. Proceeds benefit Foundation programs and educational initiatives.

DTJ Chicken and Duck Dinner

Aug. 26, 12-2 p.m.

DTJ Taborville is hosting a chicken and duck dinner at 9850 North Blvd. in Chagrin Falls. Cost is $12.50 for an adult dinner and $6.50 for a children’s chicken dinner. A half duck dinner is $17.50.

Anthony Culkar will provide music from 12:30-3:30 p.m. Czech beer is available at the bar.

Food Pantry Open

Aug. 31, 10 a.m. to noon

The food pantry at Chester Christian Center will be open to anyone in need of food. One does not need to be a member of the church to attend.

The church is located at 11815 Chillicothe Road in Chester Township.

St. Mark Rummage Sale

Sept. 6-8

St. Mark Lutheran Church will hold its annual rummage sale at the church located at 11900 Chillicothe in Chester Township.

Hours are Thursday, 4-7 p.m., with a $5 admission charge; Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with special Saturday prices.

All proceeds benefit local and worldwide missions as well as congregational needs. Call 440-729-1668 with any questions.

GEL Breakfast

Mr. Eric Mansfield, executive director of media relations at Kent State University, will present “Quicksand: What the military, media and higher education can and should learn from each other in an age of 24/7 communications” at the next Geauga Economic Leadership (GEL) breakfast at Kent State University at Geauga, 14111 Claridon Troy Road, Burton.

Networking and light breakfast begin at 7:30 a.m. followed by the presentation from 8-9 a.m. Free and open to the public. Students are welcome. Registration is appreciated.

Auburn FD Clambake

Sept. 8, 6-8:30 p.m.

The Auburn Fire Department is hosting its annual clambake and Chinese auction at the fire station located at 10950 Washington St. in Auburn Township.

Regular bake dinner costs $30 and includes a dozen clams, half a barbecue chicken, corn, yams, coleslaw, roll, soda and beer. Extra clams will be available for $10 per dozen, as well as hot dogs and chips for the kids.

There will also be live entertainment and a 50/50 raffle to benefit the fire department. The Auburn Firedevils will have cookbooks available.

Raise A Roof Clambake

Maple Leaf Community Residences is hosting a clambake at Deep Springs Trout Club, 11069 Chardon Road, Chardon.

Dinner tickets are $100 each and include clams, chicken, rainbow trout, sides and drinks.

Along with live music, wine pull, silent auction, and 50/50 raffle (minimum $1K prize), second prize two round trip airline tickets within the USA.
