The food pantry at Chester Christian Center will be open to anyone in need of food; one does not need to be a member of the church to attend.

The church is located at 11815 Chillicothe Road in Chester Township.

Auburn Community Picnic

Sept. 29, 12-6 p.m.

Join for Auburn’s Community Picnic at Auburn Community Park, 17484 Munn Road. There will be community games, cash prizes. Carnival booth games, bounce houses, CLE Bubble Soccer and bingo. Auburn Scout Troop 101 will demonstrate fire starting and rope building. Food and beverage trucks will be on-site. The magic show starts at 1 p.m. and live music by No Moss from 2:30-5:30 p.m.

Chinese Auction

Sept. 29, 1 p.m.

A Chinese auction will be held at Claridon Town Hall. Doors open at 1 p.m.; drawings begin at 3 p.m.

Proceeds benefit Claridon Community Helps and Claridon Congregational Church.

Audubon Visits Acacia Reservation

Sept. 30

Blackbrook Audubon invites birders of all levels to join them at Cleveland Metroparks’ Acacia Reservation. Meet at the kiosk by the parking lot of 26899 Cedar Road, Beachwood at 8 a.m.

Once a golf course, this park has been transformed and continues to experience habitat upgrades. Trails are paved and restrooms are available.

GEL Breakfast

Oct. 5, 7:30-9 a.m.

Michael Dungandirector of sales and marketing for RES Polyflow, will present “A Peek Into The Circular Economy: How Waste Plastic Can Create New Value For Our Communities” at the next Geauga Economic Leadership (GEL) breakfast at KSU Geauga, 14111 Claridon Troy Road in Burton.

Learn more about the RES Polyflow story and how plastic waste is being redefined as a viable building block for the economy. There will also be a live walk-through after the session of the company’s proprietary process.

Breakfast and networking begin at 7:30 a.m. followed by the presentation from 8-9 a.m. Free and open to the public. Registration is appreciated.

Free Fresh Produce

Oct. 6, 9-11 a.m.

Newbury United Community Church will be hosting a fresh produce giveaway at the church located at 14961 Auburn Road. Cleveland FoodBank provides the service to low income Geauga County residents. Please bring ID and bags.

Huntsburg CC Turkey Dinner

Oct. 6, 4-6:30 p.m.

Huntsburg Congregational Church will hold its annual turkey dinner with all the fixings at the church located at 12435 Madison Road. Come to the Pumpkin Festival and stay for dinner

Cost is $11 for adults, $9 for seniors and $6 for children ages 5-10. Children under 5 are free.

Pig Roast Dinner

Oct. 6, 4-7 p.m.

Newbury American Legion Post 663 is hosting its annual pig roast dinner in the Hunter pavilion behind the post located at 11008 Kinsman Road in Newbury. Event includes a homemade pie auction and 50/50 raffle.

Geauga Dems Clambake

The Geauga County Democratic Party is hosting its annual clambake at the county headquarters located at 12420 Kinsman Road in Newbury Township. Come hear about all the candidates for office in the upcoming election.

Rescue Mission Fundraiser

Oct. 6, 6-9 p.m.

Geauga Faith Rescue Mission will hold its third annual dinner and auction to benefit Geauga County’s homeless at Notre Dame Educational Center, 13000 Auburn Road in Chardon.

Taste of Bainbridge

Oct. 6, 6:30 p.m.

The annual Taste of Bainbridge affair will be held at the Chagrin Valley Athletic Club. Cocktails begin at 6:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 p.m., with raffles and games throughout the evening. A new event will be a casino.

Tickets are $40 per person. Proceeds benefit Bainbridge Area Food for Friends, student scholarships and other community activities.

Fall Fest

Fall Fest will be held on historic Chardon Square. The evening will include s’mores, sponsored by the Chardon Area Rotary; scarecrow making, sponsored by the Chardon Area Kiwanis; balloon artist Stacy Alan, sponsored by the Chardon Square Association; and live music by DJ Bryan Baker, face painting by Katie Stone, sponsored by the City of Chardon; and free hot dogs and cider, sponsored by Chardon Tomorrow and City of Chardon.

Chicken and Duck Dinner

Oct. 7, 12-2 p.m.

DTJ Taborville is having a chicken and duck dinner at 9850 North Blvd, Chagrin Falls. Cost is $12.50 for an adult dinner and $6.50 for a children’s chicken dinner. A half duck dinner is $17.50.

Music will be provided by Frank Moravcik from 12:30-3:30 p.m. Czech beer is available at the bar.

PERI Informational Meeting

Ohio Public Employees Retirement System Retirees (PERI Geauga Chapter 86) will hold an informational meeting at the Punderson State Park Sports Chalet.

PERI Chairman John Haught will speak at 11:15 a.m. and will take questions. All current PERI members, as well as all who are interested in the group’s mission of protecting pensions and benefits though careful oversight of upcoming state legislation, are welcome.

Farmers Harvest 5K

Oct. 13, 8:30 a.m.

The Northeast Counties Farm Bureau, serving Ashtabula, Geauga, Lake and Trumbull county farm bureaus, have partnered together to sponsor the Together with Farmers Harvest 5K & 1 Mile race to at the Great Geauga County Fairgrounds, 14373 N. Cheshire St., Burton. All proceeds benefit Lifebanc.

Participants may register at stasnyroadracing.com or by calling the Farm Bureau office at 440-426-2195. Preregistration cost, before Oct. 6, which guarantees an event shirt, is $20; after Oct. 6, the cost is $25, with no shirt guarantee. Farm Bureau members may call the office for the special event code to receive a Farm Bureau discount.

There will be a Chinese auction basket raffle. To make a donation for the raffle or an in-kind donation to Lifebanc, call the Farm Bureau office for details.

Benefit Auction for DDC Clinic

A benefit auction for DDC Clinic ~ Center for Children with Special Needs will be held at 17719 Newcomb Road in Middlefield. Event features a live Amish auction, including a 24-by-32-foot garage, a day’s labor from Amish workers, quilts, furniture, tools, home décor, maple syrup, buggies, horses, ponies, harnesses and more.

Breakfast starts at 5:30 a.m. There will be a lunch stand and bake goods will be available for sale.

Flying Club Hosts Swap Meet

Oct. 13, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Geauga Radio Controlaires is hosting the seventh annual Jim Gardner Memorial RC Model Swap Meet in the school gymnasium at Willo-Hill Baptist Church, 4200 state Route 306, Willoughby .

Seventy-seven exhibitor tables of radio controlled planes, helicopters, quadcopters, drones, cars, boats, radios, tools and accessories will be displayed for sale, barter and trade by regional modelers.

There will be an auction of new planes and equipment at 12:30 p.m.

Admission is $5. Youth 11 and under are free. Hot food will be available. Parking is free.

Proceeds support the club’s RC flying education programs and maintenance of its flying field in Burton.

BCC Fall Bazaar

Oct. 13, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Burton Congregational Church will host its annual Fall Bazaar of crafts, rummage and bake sale items and more. Lunch will be served all day. The church is located at 14558 W. Park St. in Burton Village.

Montville Firefighter’s Fall Dinner

Oct. 13, 5 p.m.

Montville Firefighter’s Association is hosting a fall dinner at the fire station. Doors open at 5 p.m.; dinner will be served at 6 p.m.
Menu includes choice of steak, chicken or clams with sides, beverage and dessert. Tickets are $17 each, presale only by Oct. 5. Hot dog kid’s meal is available for $5.

Chinese auction and 50/50 raffle will be on sale at 6 p.m., with winning tickets drawn at 7:30 p.m. Winners do not need to be present.

Creations Boutique Sale

The Children’s Guild of Cleveland is hosting its annual Creations Boutique featuring holiday decor, gourmet delights, children’s items, unique clothing and accessories, jewelry and one-of-a-kind giftsat Acacia Clubhouse, 26899 Cedar Road, Lyndhurst.

Admission is $5 at the door. All proceeds benefit Cleveland’s neediest children.

Chardon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6519’s annual clambake will be held at the post located at 752 Water St. Cost is $25 per person for one dozen clams and half a chicken dinner, and $10 for extra clams.
