The Northeast Counties Farm Bureau, serving Ashtabula, Geauga, Lake and Trumbull county farm bureaus, have partnered together to sponsor the Together with Farmers Harvest 5K & 1 Mile race to at the Great Geauga County Fairgrounds, 14373 N. Cheshire St., Burton.

Farmers Harvest 5K

Oct. 13, 8:30 a.m.

The Northeast Counties Farm Bureau, serving Ashtabula, Geauga, Lake and Trumbull county farm bureaus, have partnered together to sponsor the Together with Farmers Harvest 5K & 1 Mile race to at the Great Geauga County Fairgrounds, 14373 N. Cheshire St., Burton. All proceeds benefit Lifebanc.

Participants may register at stasnyroadracing.com or by calling the Farm Bureau office at 440-426-2195. Preregistration cost is $25. Farm Bureau members may call the office for the special event code to receive a Farm Bureau discount.

There will be a Chinese auction basket raffle. To make a donation for the raffle or an in-kind donation to Lifebanc, call the Farm Bureau office for details.

Benefit Auction for DDC Clinic

Oct. 13, 9 a.m.

A benefit auction for DDC Clinic ~ Center for Children with Special Needs will be held at 17719 Newcomb Road in Middlefield. Event features a live Amish auction, including a 24-by-32-foot garage, a day’s labor from Amish workers, quilts, furniture, tools, home décor, maple syrup, buggies, horses, ponies, harnesses and more.

Breakfast starts at 5:30 a.m. There will be a lunch stand and bake goods will be available for sale.

Flying Club Hosts Swap Meet

Oct. 13, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Geauga Radio Controlaires is hosting the seventh annual Jim Gardner Memorial RC Model Swap Meet in the school gymnasium at Willo-Hill Baptist Church, 4200 state Route 306, Willoughby.

Seventy-seven exhibitor tables of radio controlled planes, helicopters, quadcopters, drones, cars, boats, radios, tools and accessories will be displayed for sale, barter and trade by regional modelers.

There will be an auction of new planes and equipment at 12:30 p.m.

Admission is $5. Youth 11 and under are free. Hot food will be available. Parking is free.

Proceeds support the club’s RC flying education programs and maintenance of its flying field in Burton.

BCC Fall Bazaar

Oct. 13, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Burton Congregational Church will host its annual Fall Bazaar of crafts, rummage and bake sale items and more. Lunch will be served all day. The church is located at 14558 W. Park St. in Burton Village.

Apple Butter Festival

Oct. 13 and 14, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The annual Apple Butter Festival returns to the grounds of Century Village Museum in Burton. In addition to the making of the Society’s own apple butter products, there will be a wide variety of activities and demonstrations.

Cost is $8 for adults, $5 for children ages 6–12 and free for children 5 and under. Admission is free with membership.

Blessing of Animals and Memorial Service

Oct. 13, 2 p.m.

DeJohn Pet Services is hosting its annual blessing of animals and memorial service at the DeJohn Pet Services on the campus of DeJohn-Flynn-Mylott Funeral Homes, 28890 Chardon Road in Willoughby Hills. The outdoor, ecumenical service is free and open to the public.

Everyone is welcome to bring their pet for a blessing and/or photos or token of a deceased pet to be used in the memorial service. Private blessings are available upon request.

Creations Boutique Sale

The Children’s Guild of Cleveland is hosting its annual Creations Boutique featuring holiday decor, gourmet delights, children’s items, unique clothing and accessories, jewelry and one-of-a-kind giftsat Acacia Clubhouse, 26899 Cedar Road, Lyndhurst.

Admission is $5 at the door. All proceeds benefit Cleveland’s neediest children.

Good Samaritan Dinner

Oct. 17, 5-6:30 p.m.

The Burton Congregational Church, UCC, Good Samaritan Dinner will be at the church in Burton. Cost is $8 for adults, $3 for children 4-11 and free for children 3 and under.

Homemade meal consists of chicken, two sides, bread, dessert and beverage. Takeout is available; call 440-834-4495 the day of the dinner from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Proceeds go to meet emergency needs of local families.

Rummage Sale

Oct. 18-20

Christ Covenant Church, 16406 Kinsman Road in Middlefield, is holding a rummage sale of household items and clothing to benefit Charity Children’s Ministries. There will be a bake sale. Hours are Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.

CV Herb Society Meets

The Chagrin Valley Herb Society will meet at the Bainbridge Library for refreshments, a short business meeting and a presentation on herbal therapies with Kathleen Gips. Bring a mug for tea.

Free Community Breakfast

Ledgewood Christian Church is hosting its free monthly community breakfast at the church located at 8261 Kinsman Road in Russell Township.

The menu includes pancakes, sausage, salmon patties, juice, coffee and tea. Ample parking is available in front and to the rear of the church building. All are welcome.

Crafts On The Square

Thompson Fire Department is sponsoring Crafts on the Square at the Thompson United Methodist Church. The event features wonderful crafters, Chinese auction and food on site.

Eddy Fruit Farm/Kiwanis Park Clambake

Oct. 20, 5-7:30 p.m.

The fundraiser supports maintenance funds for special needs soccer fields and baseball fields at Clay Eddy Field / Kiwanis Park, 12079 Caves Road in Chester Township.

The clambake and steak roast includes beverages and live music. Cost for the clambake or steak roast is $40 per person. Extra clams are available for $10 per dozen.

American Legion Pancake Breakfast

Chardon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6519’s annual clambake will be held at the post located at 752 Water St. Cost is $25 per person for one dozen clams and half a chicken dinner, and $10 for extra clams.

Taste of Geauga

Taste of Geauga will be held in the new lodge at Claridon Woodlands Park in Claridon Township. The cost is $20 per person. Local restaurants, caterers and food establishments will be sharing samples of their favorite menu selections.

Harvest Dinner Dance

Knights of Columbus – Geauga Council is hosting a harvest dinner dance with music by Ron Papaleo in the St. Helen’s School gym in Newbury Township.

Event includes a 50/50 raffle, $1 and $2 side boards and a roast pork and sauerkraut dinner; beer and soda are extra. Wine and spirits are BYOB.
