Middlefield Historical Society invites the community its 2018 Festival of Trees. Dozens of beautifully decorated trees, nativities and festive holiday décor will be displayed on all three levels of the Century Inn, 14979 South State Ave. in Middlefield Village.

Middlefield Historical Society invites the community its 2018 Festival of Trees. Dozens of beautifully decorated trees, nativities and festive holiday décor will be displayed on all three levels of the Century Inn, 14979 South State Ave. in Middlefield Village.
The display will be open to the public through Dec. 9, Fridays, from 4-8 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays, from 12- 6 p.m.
Admission is free. Donations will be accepted. The sale of live poinsettias, handmade ornaments and MHS T-shirts will help defray expenses. Stop by the Depot for a free ice cream cone.
Middlefield Historical Society is participating in Merry Middlefield as a Grinch drop-off site. Bring new, unwrapped toys by Dec. 7 during festival open hours. Watch out for the Grinch as he sneaks through Middlefield “stealing” gifts on Dec. 8. Bring children’s winter hats, socks, gloves, mittens and/or scarves for the Kiwanis Giving Tree; donations will be delivered to Geauga Jobs and Family Services for distribution to needy local families.

Czech Christmas Bread Sale
DTJ Taborville is selling traditional Czech Christmas bread by order only. Vanocka, or houska, is a sweet dough with golden raisins and almonds baked into a braided loaf
Cost is $7.50 for a 2-pound loaf. Orders must be in by Dec. 12 and can be picked up Dec. 16 at DTJ in Taborville, 9850 North Blvd., Auburn Township. Call 440-543-8494 to place orders.
GEL Breakfast

Geauga Economic Leadership (GEL) and Geauga Growth’s Entrepreneur Task Force present “Women in Manufacturing” at the next GEL breakfast being held at Kent State University at Geauga, 14111 Claridon Troy Road in Burton.
Meet three leaders of Geauga County companies who are part of a dynamic and evolving manufacturing industry: Marian DeVoe, president, Chardon Custom Polymers; Ann Kelley, owner and vice president, IntelliPak, Ltd.; and Tracie Roberts, partner and vice president, Montville Plastics & Rubber. Learn about their backgrounds, how they got their start, what they love about manufacturing and what they see in the future.
Breakfast and networking begin at 7:30 a.m. followed by the presentation from 8-9 a.m. Free and open to the public. Registration is appreciated.

Red Kettle Bell Ringing
Dec. 8 and 15
The Salvation Army Red Kettles will be out at the Middlefield Wal-Mart with volunteers from the Berkshire Interact Club on Dec. 8 and Burton-Middlefield Rotary on Dec. 15. There will be other Rotary clubs ringing the bell throughout Geauga County and in the Chagrin Falls area the same dates.
All money donated to the kettles is distributed in Geauga County.
LGRC Breakfast with Santa

Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers Alumni Association is hosting Breakfast with Santa at First Church Congregational Church, 22 Liberty St. in Painesville. Cost is $5 per person. Children 10 and under are free.

Holiday Open House

Bainbridge Historical Society will host a holiday open house at the Bissell-Tucek House Museum located at 17870 Chillicothe Road. Admission is free.

KOC Pancakes With Santa
Dec. 9, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
St. Mary Knights of Columbus will host an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast with Santa in the cafeteria at St. Mary Church, 410 North St. in Chardon. Santa will make an appearance from 9 a.m. to noon.
Cost is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors and $3 for children 6-12 years. Children 5 and under are free.
Christmas Train and Toy Show
Dec. 9, 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
TrainMaster of Cleveland with the Painesville Railroad Museumwill host the Christmas Train and Toy Show in the main gym of Lakeland Community College, 7700 Clocktower Drive in Kirtland.
Admission is $6 for adults $6, $15 for families and $3 for children ages 6-12. Children under 6 and active military members are free.
See over 200 dealers with model trains and operating train layouts. Buy, sell and trade.
Santa Clauswill be at the show from 12:30-2 p.m. Get a photo with Santa with a $5 donation to Lake County Juvenile Diabetes Walk Family. Free face painting.
There will be toy collection of needy families. Bring new, unwrapped toys; no stuffed animals, please.

A Christmas Tea
Dec. 9, 1 p.m.
The Friends of WomenSafe annual Christmas Tea will be held in the banquet room at St. Mary’s Church, 401 North St. in Chardon. Award-winning speaker Jenilee Taylorwill talk about“Christmas Traditions.”
Doors open at 1 p.m. Tickets for the lavish gift raffle will be on sale. The three-course tea service begins at 1:30 p.m., catered by UpScale Eats.
Tickets are $45 per person, with a vegan/vegetarian or gluten free meal available by request. Children 12 and under are $20.

American Legion Post 459 is hosting Story Time with Santa’s Elves a the post located at 14052 Goodwin St. in Burton. Wear pajamas and bring a blanket.
VFW Dishwasher Fund Dinner
Jan. 12, 6 p.m.
Chardon VFW Post 6519 is holding dishwasher fund dinner and raffle. A chicken parmesan and pasta dinner will be served from 6-7 p.m. followed by the raffle. Donation is $15. Only 70 tickets will be sold for the $300 raffle.
Funds will be used to purchase a new commercial dishwasher for the post in time for the spring pancake breakfasts.
