Geauga County Department on Aging is in need of volunteer drivers to deliver meals to seniors who are alone for the holidays.

Geauga County Department on Aging is in need of volunteer drivers to deliver meals to seniors who are alone for the holidays.

Volunteers are needed on Christmas Day, Dec. 25. Volunteers pick up the holiday meal from the Chardon Senior Center, drive it to the senior’s home and spend some time visiting.

All meals are delivered from the Chardon Senior Center, 12555 Ravenwood Drive, Chardon.

Free Community Breakfast

Dec. 15, 8:30-10:30 a.m.

Ledgewood Christian Church is hosting its free monthly community breakfast at the church located at 8261 Kinsman Road in Russell Township.

The menu includes pancakes, sausage, salmon patties, juice, coffee and tea. Ample parking is available in front and to the rear of the church building. All are welcome.

Story Time with Santa’s Elves

Dec. 15, 6-7:30 p.m.

American Legion Post 459 is hosting Story Time with Santa’s Elves at the post located at 14052 Goodwin St. in Burton. Wear pajamas and bring a blanket.

Audubon Monthly Walk

Dec. 23, 8 a.m.

Join Blackbrook Audubon on its monthly walk at Chagrin River Park to monitor avian life to benefit the Chagrin River Corridor Important Bird Area. Meet at 3100 Reeves Road off Lost Nation Road in Willoughby.

Join Christmas Bird Count

Blackbrook Audubon Society needs eyes and ears for the 119th annual Christmas Bird Count (CBC) on Dec. 29. The CBC is the longest-running citizen science project in North America and helps biologists monitor bird population trends.

The object of the Christmas Bird Census is to count all the bird species and number of birds in a 15-mile diameter circle in one 24-hour period between Dec. 14 and Jan. 5. Participants within the circle can also report birds at their feeders.

VFW Dishwasher Fund Dinner

Jan. 12, 6 p.m.

Chardon VFW Post 6519 is holding dishwasher fund dinner and raffle. A chicken parmesan and pasta dinner will be served from 6-7 p.m. followed by the raffle. Donation is $15. Only 70 tickets will be sold for the $300 raffle.

Funds will be used to purchase a new commercial dishwasher for the post in time for the spring pancake breakfasts.
