CV Herb Society Meets

The Chagrin Valley Herb Society will meet at the Bainbridge Library. Bring a mug for tea. Following refreshments and business meeting, the group will enjoy a presentation on essential oils.

Faith Rescue Mission Dinner

Feb. 15, 5:30-7 p.m.

Parkman Congregational Church will sponsor a fundraising dinner for Geauga Faith Rescue Mission at the church located at 18265 Madison Road. Serving lemon pepper chicken, the cost is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors over 65, and $6 for children 5-10. Children 4 and under are free.

Free Community Breakfast

Feb. 16, 8:30-10:30 a.m.

Ledgewood Christian Church is hosting its free community breakfast at the church located at 8261 Kinsman Road in Russell Township.

The menu includes pancakes, sausage, salmon patties, juice, coffee and tea. Ample parking is available in the rear of the church building. All are welcome.

Good Samaritan Dinner

Feb. 17, 12:30-2:30 p.m.

The Burton Congregational Church, UCC, Good Samaritan Dinner will be held at the church on Burton Square. Cost is $7 for adults, $3 for children ages 4-11 and free for children 3 and under.

Homemade meal consists of turkey, gravy, biscuits and two sides, beverage and dessert. Proceeds will go to meet emergency needs of local families.

Chardon VFW Soup Cook-Off

Feb. 17, 2:30 p.m.

Be crowned the best soup of 2019 and watch the Daytona 500 Race.

The public is welcome. Sign-up sheet is inside the canteen.

Community Dinner

Feb. 19, 5-6:30 p.m.

Claridon Community Helps is hosting a free community dinner at the Claridon Congregational Church located on the corner of Mayfield and Claridon Troy roads. Choose from ham and potato casserole or tuna noodle casserole.

Geauga Dems Women’s Caucus

Feb. 19, 7 p.m.

Jennifer Weinbrecht, from Jane Austen Books in Geauga County, will present “Jane in Geauga: A Local Bookstore’s Worldwide Impact” with her daughter and co-worker Amy Patterson at the Geauga County Democratic Women’s Caucus meeting being held at the party headquarters and social hall located at 12420 Kinsman Road in Newbury Township.

Learn about this local woman-owned business as well as upcoming events that Jennifer and Amy and the Jane Austen Society of North America are bringing to Northeast Ohio.

There will be a short meeting at 7 p.m. followed by the program at 7:30 p.m. The program is free and open to the public. Tea will be served.

Audubon Goes Beyond Birdseed

Feb. 19, 7 p.m.

Blackbrook Audubon will show homeowners how to attract more birds to their yards with selective planting at their meeting at Penitentiary Glen. Michael Goldman, of National Audubon Society, will describe how to use Audubon’s Plants for Birds database to choose plants that will grow best in a target zip code and attract species of birds the audience would like to see.

Food Distribution

Feb. 23, 9-11 a.m.

The Cleveland Food Bank will be distributing food to people in need at Celebration Lutheran Church, 10621 Auburn Road in Chardon.

Art to the Rescue

Feb. 23, 7-9 p.m.

Rescue Village will host its Art to the Rescueevent at Lowe’s Greenhouse, Florist & Gift Shop in Bainbridge Township. Presented by Dr. Julie A. Clayman, the event will feature dozens of original works of art, fine crafts, jewelry and more, to be auctioned off during the party. The event includes live music by Matt Harmon, art pieces created live at the event by local artists, therapy dogs, and heavy hors d’oeuvres and beverages.

Home Gardeners’ Workshop

March 9, 8:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The Lake County OSU Extension and Master Gardeners Volunteers are hosting their annual Home Gardeners’ Workshop, “The More You Know, the More You Grow,” at Lakeland Community College in Kirtland. The fee is $48. Program includes four sessions, lunch, refreshments and handouts.
