St. Mary’s Church, Chardon will be serving all-you-can-eat fish fries on the Fridays of Lent. Pricing for dine-in guests is $13 for adults, $6 for children and free for children 5 and under. Carryout pricing is $12 for adults and $5 for children.
Free Community Breakfast
March 16, 8:30-10:30 a.m.
Ledgewood Christian Church is hosting its free community breakfast at the church located at 8261 Kinsman Road in Russell Township.
The menu includes pancakes, sausage, salmon patties, juice, coffee and tea. Ample parking is available in the rear of the church building. All are welcome.
Warm Up for Spring Craft Show
March 16, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Shake off the winter weather and join for shopping at Generations Event Center and Guido’s Pizza Haven, 12809 Chillicothe Road in Chester Township.
Shop from more than 40 unique vendors, take a chance at the Chinese raffle and grab something to eat afterwards at the pizzeria attached to the party center.
Black Knights At The Races
March 16, 6 p.m.
Newbury School’s Black Black Knights at the Races will be held at the EOUV Club, 8636 Pekin Road in Russell Township. Doors open at 6 p.m.; races start at 7 p.m.
Advance tickets are $30, or $35 at the door, and include dinner and non-alcoholic beverages. The evening will include video horse race wagering, Chinese auction, 50/50 raffle and cash bar. Horse naming and sponsorship opportunities are available.

LGRC St. Patrick’s Dinner Dance
March 16, 6-11 p.m.
The Lake-Geauga Recovery Center’s Alumni Association is hosting a St. Patrick’s Day Dinner Dance at Painesville Township Park Community Center, 1025 Hardy Road. The adult-only event is open to the public and includes dinner and dancing with music by Andy’s Last Band. There will also be a 50/50 raffle.

VFW Corned Beef Sandwiches

Chardon VFW Post 6519 will serve corned beef sandwiches from 11:30 a.m. until they are gone. Donation is $8. Call 440-285-3699 for pickup orders. The post is located at 752 Water St. in Chardon.
Turkey Community Dinner
March 19, 5-6:30 p.m.
Claridon Community Helps is preparing and serving a free turkey dinner at Claridon Congregational Church located at the corner of Mayfield and Claridon Troy roads. Donations are accepted, but not expected.

Audubon Talks Canada Geese

Form a strategy for coping with Canada Geese at Blackbrook
Audubon’s program at Penitentiary Glen, 8668 Kirtland-Chardon Road, Kirtland. Ryan Jackson from the Ohio Division of Wildlife will describe goose biology and share management techniques so property owners can make their land and water less appealing to geese.

Good Samaritan Dinner

The Burton Congregational Church, UCC, Good Samaritan Dinner will be held at the church on Burton Square. Cost is $8 for adults, $$3 for children ages 4-11 and free for children 3 and under.
Homemade meal consists of corned beef, cabbage, sides, beverage and dessert. Proceeds will go to meet emergency needs of local families.
Pond Management Clinic

Join the Geauga and Portage Soil and Water Conservation Districts (SWCDs) for an informative and free Pond Management Clinic on at Centerville Mills Park Dining Hall, 8558 Crackel Road, Bainbridge Township. Learn more about managing ponds with featured speaker Eugene Braig, aquatic ecosystems specialist with Ohio State University Extension and School of Environment and Natural Resources.

GCRTA Meeting

The Geauga County Retired Teachers Association will meet at Fowler’s Mill Golf Course, 13095 Rockhaven Road, Chester Township. Gathering time will be followed by the business meeting at 11:30 a.m. and a pork medallion lunch at noon.
Guest speaker is STRS Communications Director Nick Treneff, who will address STRS funding, the status of COLA and the health care program. Members are requested to submit questions and concerns in writing on provided index cards.

GOP Lincoln Day Dinner

The Geauga County Republican Party will hold its annual Lincoln Day dinner at The Tanglewood Club, 8745 Tanglewood Trail, Bainbridge Township. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 pm.
Keynote speaker will be Ohio Senate President Larry Obhoff, with special remarks by Congressman Dave Joyce and a visit from Abraham Lincoln.

Tri For A Reason
April 7
The Geauga Family YMCA is hosting Tri For A Reason, an indoor triathlon. Event consists of a 15 minute swim, 20 minute bike ride and 20 minute run.
Cost is $30 for members and $35 for nonmembers. Relay teams are $45 for members and $50 for nonmembers.
Proceeds benefit LIVESTRONG at the YMCA, a zero-cost fitness program for cancer survivors.

Enjoy an evening celebrating the achievements and continued progress of DDC Clinic at the Federated Church Family Life Center in Bainbridge Township. The 19th annual event includes dinner, drinks, music, basket raffle, and live and silent auctions.
