The Lake Effect Chapter of the Ohio Ecological Food and Farm Association (OEFFA) will hold a free cheese-making workshop from in basement meeting room A at Morley Library, 184 Phelps St., Painesville. Abbe Turner, owner of Lucky Penny Farm in Kent, will demonstrate how to make cheese.

St. Mary’s Fish Fries

April 12, 4:30-7 p.m.

St. Mary’s Church, Chardon will serve an all-you-can-eat fish fry. Pricing for dine-in guests is $13 for adults, $6 for children and free for children 5 and under. Carryout pricing is $12 for adults and $5 for children.

Audubon Visits in Lorain County

April 13, 8 a.m.

Blackbrook Audubon invites birders of all levels to explore Sandy Ridge Reservation in Lorain County. The variety of habitats shelters songbirds, waterfowl, egrets, herons, shore birds and a Bald Eagle nest. Meet at the Johnson Wetland Center at 6195 Otten Road in North Ridgeville. Indoor restrooms are available. Participants will travel to nearby birding hot spots.

Blackbrook Audubon Society will begin its annual Spring Bird Walks at 7:30 a.m. April 14 at Headlands Beach State Park. Birders of all skill levels are welcome to attend this series of six walks Sundays through May 19. Participants can park in the lot at 9600 Headlands Road.

NEOCAG Meeting

April 13, 9 a.m.

The NorthEast Ohio Computer-Aided Genealogy Society, Inc. (NEOCAG), an educational organization for people interested in genealogicalresearch using electronic means, will hold its monthly meeting at the Mayfield Branch of the Cuyahoga Public Library, 500 SOM Center Road, Mayfield Village.

Speaker Carla Cegielski will present “Digital Ohio: Researching Buckeye Gems.” Learn how to find and access small local history and genealogy online resources.

Doors open at 9 a.m. followed by the program at 9:30 a.m.

Breakfast for Dinner

Claridon Community Helps will be cooking up breakfast to serve for dinner at Claridon Congregational Church. Donations are accepted, but not expected.

Using Habitats to Locate Birds

Larry Richardson, an avid birder with nearly 50 years experience, will help Blackbrook Audubon’s audience with “Birding by Habitat” at its meeting at Penitentiary Glen, 8668 Kirtland-Chardon Road, Kirtland.

Good Samaritan Dinner

April 17, 5-6:30 p.m.

The Burton Congregational Church, UCC, Good Samaritan Dinner will be held at the church on Burton Square. Cost is $8 for adults, $$3 for children ages 4-11 and free for children 3 and under.

Homemade meal consists of chicken, scallop potatoes, sides, beverage and dessert. Proceeds will go to meet emergency needs of local families.

Saving The Environment

April 18, 7 p.m.

The Democratic Party of Geauga County will host a panel discussion on the many environmental challenges facing Geauga County and Ohio. Hear experts speak about toxic algae blooms in Lake Erie and the need to provide clean, safe drinking water. Learn what is in the Green New Deal and how it might impact Ohio.

A spaghetti dinner will be served. Suggested donation is $13. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Fish Fry in Parkman

April 19, 5:30-7 p.m.

Parkman Congregational Church is hosting a fish fry at the church located at 18265 Madison Road. Cost is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, $6 for youth ages 5-10 and free for preschoolers.

All proceeds will be going to support the Geauga Faith Rescue Mission. Good Friday service begins at 7 p.m.

Easter Egg Hunt

April 20, 11 a.m.

The fifth annual Chardon Township Easter egg hunt will take place at Chardon Township Park, 9949 Auburn Road. The hunt is for children of walking age to 10 years old.

Bring a basket or bag. There will be prizes for each age group and an appearance by the Easter bunny.

Fellowship EasterBlast

April 20, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Fellowship Bible Church is hosting “Fellowship EasterBlast” at the Federated Family Life Center, 16349 Chillicothe Road, Bainbridge Township.

The event will include games, inflatables, face-painting, food and an Easter egg hunt with traditional eggs as well as those suitable for children with sensory, auditory and visually impaired developmental delays.

Red Wagon Spring Luncheon

April 27, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Christ Child Society of Geauga County is holding its 29th annual Red Wagon Spring Luncheon at St. Noel Party Center in Willoughby Hills. Guest emcee is Jen Harcher, Channel 8 meteorologist.

The Chinese auction and luncheon raffles support the many programs and activities of the Society in its mission to help and serve children at risk in Geauga County for over 30 years.

The luncheon will again feature signature gift baskets, along with spring plants and flowers.

Shop the “First Opportunity to Buy” event on May 1 from 5:30-8 p.m. Admission is $10 on Wednesday only. Bids will be accepted on an antique oil painting and award-winning handmade quilt. A collection of paintings will be offered through the event.
