Hours are Thursday and Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, half price bag day, 9 a.m. to noon.

Mayfield Church Rummage Sale
May 2-4
A rummage sale will be held at Mayfield United Methodist Church, 7747 Mayfield Road in Chester Township. All proceeds are for missions.
Sale hours are Thursday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Saturday, Bag Day, 9 a.m. to noon.
Fair School Funding Plan Public Forum
May 4, 9:30 a.m. to noon
State Reps. Bob Cupp and John Patterson are sponsoring a public forum on the Ohio Fair School Funding Plan at Park Elementary School Auditorium, 111 Goodrich Court in Chardon.
Learn more about the comprehensive proposal to develop a fair and understandable school-funding model for Ohio school districts. Hear comments from area school district superintendents and engage in a question and answer session.

Parks Foundation Hosts Walk
May 4, 10:30 a.m.
The Foundation for Geauga Parks will be hosting a walk at Frohring Meadows, 16780 Savage Road, Bainbridge Township. The approximately 2.5 mile walk should last about 90 minutes and will take place rain or shine. Pets are welcome.
Boy’s State Orientation
May 5, 2 p.m.

VFW Wednesday Dinners
Wednesdays, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Chardon VFW Post 6519 will serve personal sized pizzas for dinner every Wednesday in May at the post located at 752 Water St. Donation ranges from $5 to $7.50. The public is welcome.
Geauga Plastic Coalition
May 8, 7-8:30 p.m.
The inaugural meeting of the Geauga Plastic Coalition will be held at Geauga West Library. Support local efforts to address the plastic bag pollution problem impacting land and waterways.

Perennial Gardeners Plant Sale

NEOCAG Meeting

The NorthEast Ohio Computer-Aided Genealogy Society, Inc. (NEOCAG), an educational organization for people interested in genealogicalresearch using electronic means, will hold its monthly meeting at the Mayfield Branch of the Cuyahoga Public Library, 500 SOM Center Road, Mayfield Village.
Speaker Pamela Baster, MLS, manuscripts curator for the DAR Library, will present “DAR Online Resources.” The webinar will be followed by breakout groups in Roots Magic, Family Tree Maker and assistance for beginners.

Fresh Farmers’ Market Opens
May 11, 9 a.m. to noon
The Geauga Fresh Farmers’ Market opens for its summer season in the South Russell Village Town Hall parking lot.
Customers will receive a complementary blueberry plant donated by Hawthorne Springs Greenhouse in Burton. Geauga County MasterGardeners will be on hand to offer advice on how to care for the plant and to answer general questions about plants and gardening.
The market is still accepting new vendors. Applications are available on the market website. A limited number of spaces are available for food truck operators.

Geauga Spring Drive Tour
May 11, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Destination Geauga and 25 local businesses are hosting the 17th annual Spring Drive-it-Yourself Tour. Each stop offers special activities, family friendly demonstrations, food samples, giveaways and special sales.
The event concludes at Heritage Marketplace Event Center with a grand finale filled with opportunities to win hundreds of dollars worth of prizes. Joining the finale with 10 stamps collected at various stops will earn participants an opportunity at the grand prize drawing.

Mother-Daughter Luncheon
May 11, 11 a.m.
Chesterland Baptist Church, 12670 Chillicothe Road, will host a potluck salad luncheon for all women and girls. The theme is “Early Pioneer Days” in celebration of the church’s 200th anniversary. Speaker Susan Ingrassia, a docent and trustee of the Chesterland Historical Village, will bring her great wheel and talk about spinning, fibers and pioneer women’s lives.
Bring a salad to share. Beverages and dessert will be provided. There is no fee to attend, but a free will offering will be taken for women’s ministries.

Peace Lutheran Plant Giveaway

Peace Lutheran Church will host a plant giveaway at the church located at 12686 Bass Lake Road in Munson Township. The event includes free plants, food and beverage and baked goods, while supplies last. Donations will be accepted to help the church pay down its parking lot and building renovation loan.
Geauga Dems Women’s Caucus
May 14, 6 p.m.
Dianne Kellogg, director of the Red Tulip Project, will be the speaker at the Geauga Democratic Women’s Caucus meeting and dinner at the party headquarters and social hall located at 12420 Kinsman Road, Newbury Township.
Suggested donation is $15. All money collected will to go the Red Tulip Project, which operates a sober house in Geauga County. Paper supplies for the house will also be collected. Questions? Call 440-226-1051.
Christian Women’s Connection

Romona Robinson, Emmy-winning news anchor and national award-winning author, will be the keynote speaker for the Friends of WomenSafe spring luncheon being held in the banquet room of St. Mary’s Church, 401 North St., Chardon.
She will present “When You’re Called to Lead: Discerning the Many Voices that Block Your Progress.” Autographed copies of her book, “A Dirt Road to Somewhere,” will be available for $20. Event includes a gift raffle.

Protect Geauga Parks

Auburn School Alumni Reunion
May 19, 2 p.m.
The Auburn School Alumni Reunion dinner will be held at Adam Hall on Washington Street. There are graduates from 1933 to 1981, but the committee would also like to include those who attended in the 1990s before the school was closed.
