Middlefield Historical Society hosts its annual garage sale at the Century Inn Underloft, 14979 South State Ave., Middlefield Village. Shop for bargains galore with low prices and penny box treasures. Bargain day with 50 percent off is May 18. No early birds.
St. Mark’s Plant Sale
May 17-19
Thyme to Plant plant sale and preview party is Friday from 7-8:45 p.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 11900 Chillicothe Road in Chester Township. Tickets for the adult only event are $10 each and include hors d’oeuvres and beverages.
Featured are donated items from members, area nurseries, garden centers and local businesses, including handcrafted items from area artisans and gift baskets and raffle items.
Plant sale takes place Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Annual bedding plants, perennials, vegetables, hanging baskets, houseplants and other garden items will be available. Selected annuals and hanging baskets may be preordered and prepaid and will be ready for pick up Friday.
Order blanks and reservations for the preview party are available by calling 440-729 1668 from 9 a.m. to noon weekdays.
Rescue Mission Meatloaf Dinner
May 17, 5:30-7 p.m.
Parkman Congregational Church is hosting a meatloaf dinner at the church located at 18265 Madison Road.
Cost is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, $6 for youth ages 5-10 and free for preschoolers.
All proceeds support the Geauga Faith Rescue Mission.
Red Stocking Revue
May 17 and 18, 7:30 p.m.
The Western Reserve Junior Service League (WRJSL) will present its 28th annual Red Stocking Revue, “Happiness is…Parte deux,” in the T.W. Harvey High School theatre in Painesville.
Funds raised will go to the WRJSL Community Grant Program, which provides funds to Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula non-profit agencies

Geauga Beekeepers Field Day
May 18, 8:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The Geauga County Beekeepers Association will host the 2019 Field Day at Case Western Reserve Farm, 37125 Fairmount Blvd., Chagrin Falls. Gain information on beekeeping including bee friendly flowers, installing packages of bees, hive inspections, mites and catching swarms.
Cost for nonmembers is $20, which includes membership to the club for the remainder of the 2019.
CVHS Plant And Herb Sale

Chagrin Valley Herb Society is holding its annual plant and herb sale at the Bainbridge Library, 17222 Snyder Road. Select from unique herbs and reasonably priced member’s plants and garden starts.

RHS Veterans Memorial Program
May 19, 3 p.m.
Russell Township Historical Society will sponsor a program to honor all veterans at the Briar Hill Church located on the southwest corner of Fairmount and Chillicothe roads. Refreshments will be served.
The Burton Middlefield American Legion Post 459 will participate with flag ceremonies and taps by a bugler. There will be songs and recognition of all branches of military service. Guest speaker will be Captain Anthony Paskevich, a retired Marine. Local Girl Scouts and Boy Scout Troop 193 will also participate.
Audubon Shares Adventure Travel Stories
May 21, 7 p.m.
Blackbrook Audubon welcomes Bruce and Susan Bennett to its monthly program meeting at The West Woods Nature Center in Russell Township. The Bennetts will describe their trip to Guyana, where they traveled 110 miles up the Rewa River under the guidance of Makushi Amerindians.

LWV Hosts Free Speech Forum
May 24, 1 p.m.
The League of Women Voters of Geauga County will host its annual free speech forum at Munson Town Hall, 12210 Auburn Road. All Geauga residents are welcome to attend.
Speakers will be state Sens. John Eklund and Sean O’Brien and state Rep. John Patterson. They will each speak for 10 minutes about the state of the state, followed by questions from the audience.

Civil War Encampment
May 25 and 26, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Geauga County Historical Society will host a Civil War Encampment on the grounds of Century Village Museum in Burton. Re-enactors depicting Union and Confederate soldiers, camp followers and traveling merchants will provide a living history of struggles and tribulations associated with the Great War of the Rebellion.
Cost is $8 for adults, $5 for children 6 to 12 and free for children 5 and under. Food and drink will be available on the grounds. Period merchandise will be offered for sale. Select historical buildings at the museum will be open to the public.

Garden Club Hosts Plant Sale
May 25, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Gates Mills Garden Club hosts its annual plant sale at the club’s Esquire’s Cottage & Barn, 1280 Chagrin River Road, Gates Mills. Admission is free. The event will also feature a vintage boutique with gently-used items for sale.
The sale features wide variety of annuals, perennials, shrubs and houseplants from club gardeners.

Tail Waggin’ Good Time

Totally Dogs 4-H Club, Geauga County Recorder Sharon C. Gingerich and state Rep. Sarah LaTourette will be hosting the annual Tail-Waggin’ Good Time benefit dinner and silent auction for the Geauga County Dog Shelter and the Geauga County K9 Unit at St. Helen’s Church, 12060 Kinsman Road, Newbury Township.
