The college student conservatives will provide an update on campus freedom of speech issues. District 76 Representative Diane Grendell will speak on current legislative issues.

Geauga Dems Host Straw Poll

June 20, 6:30 p.m.

The Geauga County Democratic Party will host a hot topic spaghetti dinner at the Geauga County Democratic Party Headquarters, 12420 Kinsman Road in Newbury Township.

Join to discuss the group’s top 10 Democratic presidential nominees for the upcoming presidential election. See video clips of candidates and voice one’s opinion.

International Make Music Day

June 21, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Join the worldwide celebration in the reading garden at Burton Public Library, 14588 W. Park St., Burton. Free to all music lovers, bring an instrument to play or sing along. There will be hands on instruction for kids on how to make instruments at 2:30 p.m.

CV Herb Society Meets

VFW Auxiliary Rummage Sale

Donations will be accepted for the VFW Post 6519 Auxiliary rummage sale on June 20. No clothing or large furniture will be accepted. The post is located at 752 Water St. in Chardon.

Gates Mills Garden Tour

June 21 & 22, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Gates Mills Garden Club is sponsoring its biennial garden tour of private, exclusive gardens within the village. Attendees can also browse through vendor displays featuring a wide variety of unique gardening-related items for sale.

First Fly-In Of Summer

June 22, 7-11 a.m.

The Experimental Aircraft Association, Chapter 5 will host its first fly-in of summer, a Wings and Wheels event, at the Geauga County Airport, 15421 Old State Road in Middlefield.

An all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast will be served for a donation of $8 for adults and $4 for kids ages 3-11. Proceeds benefit EAA, Chapter 5.

Free airplane rides will be offered for youth ages 8-17with parental permission, as well as aviation related games and crafts.

Event also features vintage and show cars and airplanes available for the public to see up close. All cars and aircraft are welcome; no registration fees.

Gotta Go Green Fest

June 22, 12-3 p.m.

The Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste Management district will hold its first Gotta Go Green Fest at the District’s office, 5138 Enterprise Blvd. in Warren. The family friendly event is geared to residents of the district and will include educational displays, kid’s activities, games and food. The event is free.

Members of the Geauga County Amateur Radio community will be participating in the national Amateur Radio Field Day exercise in Huntsburg.

The event allows amateur radio operators to test their emergency communications capabilities.

Audubon Monthly IBA Walk

June 23, 8 a.m.

Join Blackbrook Audubon for its monthly Important Bird Area (IBA) survey at Beaty Landing in the Grand River – Lower Watershed IBA. Park at the new east entrance to Beaty Landing located at 543 E. Walnut St., Painesville.

Blackbrook will monitor the site on the fourth Sunday of each month. The list of birds found will be posted on eBird.org. Birders of all skill levels are welcome.

Community Day

June 23, 12-5 p.m.

Chardon VFW Post 6519 is hosting a free community event for all veterans, their families and friends at the post located at 752 Water St., Chardon. Event includes Our Zoo to You exotic animals, I Scream Ice Cream and Rick Everhart Magic & Balloons.

Meet some local first responders from Chardon police and fire departments and the Geauga County Sheriff’s Department. There will be games, prizes, snacks and contests.

Run 4theAges

June 29, 8:30 a.m.

The annual Run4TheAges, a 5K run and a 1-mile fun walk to benefit the senior services levy in Geauga County, is being held on the trails of Orchard Hills Park, 11414 Caves Road in Chester Township. Registration begins at 8 a.m.

K.I.D. Cancer Chinese Auction

4th of July Parade, Picnic

July 4

Auburn Township will celebrate the Fourth of July with a parade starting at the Meadows subdivision on Auburn Center Road and proceeding south on Auburn Road to the Auburn Fire Station.

There will be refreshments and places to sit at the fire station. Memorabilia will be on display and fire department members will be on hand to answer questions about the department and equipment.

Friends of WomenSafe Golf Outing 

Aug. 8

Friends of WomenSafe will hold its third annual golf outing, “Greens for the Greenhouse,” at Fowler’s Mill Golf Course. The event will include 18 holes of golf in a scramble format, hole games, breakfast, lunch and a light dinner.

Funds raised benefit WomenSafe’s , a shelter for victims of domestic violence, serving Lake, Geauga and Cuyahoga counties.
