K.I.D. Cancer Chinese Auction

June 29, 3 p.m.

Members of the Kayla Irene Daniels K.I.D. Cancer Foundation are holding a special event auction at the Parkman Community House located on state Route 422 in Parkman. Doors open at 3 p.m., with the drawings starting at 5 p.m.

There will be more than 200 items up for bid, including household items, tools, baskets, television, air compressor, air tools, a 50/50 raffle and a door prize of up to $500 in cash.

Money raised will go to help send Kyra Daniels to New York City for the start of her new career in the acting and modeling field.

Monies not used for her trip will be donated to the K. I. D. Cancer Foundation to help another special child go to Disney World in Florida.

Memorial Gathering

July 3, 1 p.m.

An informal memorial gathering and celebration of the life of Dorothy Allen will be held at the Middlefield Public Library.

VFW Spaghetti Dinners

Wednesdays, 5-7 p.m.

Chardon VFW Post 6519 will serve spaghetti and meatballs for dinner every Wednesday in July to complement its weekly Queen of Hearts drawing. Cost is $6 per serving. Extra meatballs are 50 cents each. The public is welcome.

Firecracker 5K & 1-Mile Run

July 4, 8 a.m.

Join Chardon Schools Foundation for its annual Race for Education. Open to the public and all ages, the event is packed with fun, including T-shirts, top 5K finisher plaques, 5K age group awards and cooling towels, 1-mile ribbons, live DJ, ice cream and more.

Early bird registration available online through July 2. In-person registration/packet pickup is July 3 at the Chardon Schools Board of Education Office from 6-8 p.m. and July 4 at the race site starting at 7 a.m.

Newbury United Community Church will be hosting a fresh produce giveaway at the church located at 14961 Auburn Road.

Cleveland FoodBank provides the service to low income Geauga County residents. Please bring ID and bags.

Thompson/Ledgemont Reunion

July 7, noon
The annual Thompson/Ledgemont High School Old Timers Reunion will be held at Montville Community Center, 9755 Madison Road, Montville Township. Social time begins at noon followed by a potluck lunch at 1 p.m. Bring a dish to share and table service.
The Ledgemont Class of 1969 will be honored for its 50th anniversary, and the Ledgemont Class of 1979 will be welcomed for the first time. Nametags will be provided.

Geauga Dems Annual Dinner

July 14, 6 p.m.

The Geauga County Democratic Party will host “An Evening with Steve Dettlebach, former United States Attorney for the Northern District,” during its annual dinner at the Metzenbaum Center, 8200 Cedar Road, Chester Township.

Dettlebach will speak about the Mueller report and the legal, ethical and political issues involved in impeachment. Dinner will be served along with adult beverages.

Yoder Brothers Reverse Raffle

The Yoder Brothers, Joshua and Tyler, Scholarship Foundation is hosting its second annual Reverse Raffle with a $5,000 grand prize to at the EOUV, 8636 Pekin Road, Russell Township.

The event features a silent auction, fish bowl raffle, DJ, hors d’oeuvres, dinner and dessert as well as an open bar. Tickets are $75 and include a raffle number.

Proceeds help the foundation award renewable scholarships to students at Cardinal, Berkshire and Newbury high schools.

HomeGrown Under the Dome

Tickets are now on sale for Geauga Growth Partnership’s annual HomeGrown Under the Dome fundraising event at ASM International, 9639 Kinsman Road in Russell Township.

The evening features food, spirits, music, silent auction, raffles and homegrown entertainment.

Friends of WomenSafe Golf Outing 

Aug. 8

Friends of WomenSafe will hold its third annual golf outing, “Greens for the Greenhouse,” at Fowler’s Mill Golf Course. The event will include 18 holes of golf in a scramble format, hole games, breakfast, lunch and a light dinner.

Funds raised benefit WomenSafe’s , a shelter for victims of domestic violence, serving Lake, Geauga and Cuyahoga counties.
