There is something for everyone at this unique mega yard, warehouse and tent sale being held at 72 Corwin Drive, Painesville. Refreshments will be available.

All proceeds benefit Maple Leaf Community Residences, Inc., a non-profit provider of Homes for Special Needs. Checks and donations may be made payable to MLCRI. Cash, all major credit cards and checks will be accepted.

Yoder Brothers Reverse Raffle

July 19, 5:30-10:30 p.m.

The Yoder Brothers, Joshua and Tyler, Scholarship Foundation is hosting its second annual Reverse Raffle with a $5,000 grand prize to at the EOUV, 8636 Pekin Road, Russell Township.

The event features a silent auction, fish bowl raffle, DJ, hors d’oeuvres, dinner and dessert as well as an open bar. Tickets are $75 and include a raffle number.

Proceeds help the foundation award renewable scholarships to students at Cardinal, Berkshire and Newbury high schools.

Free Community Breakfast

July 20, 8:30-10:30 a.m.

Ledgewood Christian Church is hosting its free community breakfast at the church located at 8261 Kinsman Road in Russell Township.

The menu includes pancakes, sausage, salmon patties, juice, coffee and tea. Ample parking is available in the rear of the church building. All are welcome.

Zucchini Festival

July 20, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The eighth annual Emerald Rose Zucchini Festival will be held on Chardon Square to benefit Emerald Woods, mental wellness facility in Northeast Ohio serving emotionally impaired adults.
The event will include a zucchini bake sale, zucchini decorating contest for kids, Chinese auction, zucchini themed fair food, crafters, vendors, live music, entertainment, face painting and games for kids. Home Depot will provide a kids activity while supplies last. A donation based 5K fun run and one mile walk will take place at 9 a.m.

Most of the entertainment is free. Event will be held rain or shine.

Taste of ICASI

July 20, 12-4 p.m.

Join the International Culinary Arts and Sciences Institute in celebrating the accomplishments of its graduates and sample their delicious treats.

Geauga Tea Party Meets

Geauga County Tea Party will meet at Geauga Parks West Woods, 9465 Kinsman Road, Russell Township.

Sarah Fowler, who represents District 7 on the Ohio State Board of Education,willspeak on social-emotional learning (SEL), a controversial part of Ohio’s new five-year strategic plan for schools.

Judge Timothy Grendellwill speak on current events in the Geauga County Juvenile/Probate Court.

Kiwanis Summer Concert Series

July 24, 7-9 p.m.

The Kiwanis Club of West Geauga’s summer concert series continues at the gazebo in Chester Township Park with Blu Monsoon, one of the most sought after jazz bands in Northeast Ohio, Blue Monsoon averages over 120 public performances each year.

In event of rain, concerts will be moved to Mayfield United Methodist Church, 7747 Mayfield Road, Chester Township.

Free Cat Spays

July 25, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Valley Save-A-Pet (VSAP) in cooperation with more than two dozen local veterinarians will provide 50 free cat spays. Call VSAP Have a Heart phone line at 440-232-2287 on July 25 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to schedule an appointment. Calls will continue to be taken every Thursday until the spay goal is met. Unvaccinated cats will also receive FVRCP and rabies vaccinations free of charge.

Public Input Needed For Watershed Plans

Public input is needed to help develop watershed plans for the West Branch Cuyahoga, LaDue Reservoir-Bridge Creek, and Black Brook” subwatersheds, part of the upper Cuyahoga watershed.

An open house will take place July 25 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. with a short presentation at 7 pm. at Geauga Park District’s Veteran’s Legacy Woods, 14085 Ravenna Road, Newbury Township.

Chagrin River Watershed Partners is seeking input on land protection, restoration and stormwater management solutions to improve water quality and enhance wildlife habitat.

Anyone can provide feedback by attending the open house or by taking an online survey at crwp.org.

Rubber Stamp Sale

Audubon Monthly IBA Walk

July 28, 8 a.m.

Join Blackbrook Audubon for its monthly Important Bird Area (IBA) survey at Beaty Landing in the Grand River – Lower Watershed IBA. Park at the lower lot of Beaty Landing, 543 E. Walnut Ave., Painesville.

Blackbrook monitors the site on the fourth Sunday of each month. The list of birds found is posted on eBird.org. Birders of all skill levels are welcome.

Master Rain Gardener Course

In partnership with Lake County Soil & Water District, Lake County Stormwater Management Department, Holden Forests and Gardens and Lake Metroparks, Chagrin River Watershed Partners is offering two five- week Master Rain Gardener courses that will teach participants how to design, install and maintain residential rain gardens. The course is open to residents of Lake and Geauga counties, and can be taken in-person or online.

The in-person course begins July 31 and will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lake Metroparks Lakefront Lodge, 30525 Lake Shore Blvd., Willowick. The online course begins Aug. 26 and will be offered through weekly online modules.

Each course offers a two-track option, where participants can choose to receive a residential certification or a professional certification. Participants in the professional certification track will be required to attend a full day of in-person training and pass a final exam. Registration for both courses is open now at crwp.org.

Family Fun Day

Chesterland Baptist Church, 12670 Chillicothe Road, will host an event for the community, including bouncy houses, food, balloon twister, face painting, crafts and more. All activities and food are free.

HomeGrown Under the Dome

Aug. 3, 5:30-9 p.m.

Tickets are now on sale for Geauga Growth Partnership’s annual HomeGrown Under the Dome fundraising event at ASM International, 9639 Kinsman Road in Russell Township.

The evening features food, spirits, music, silent auction, raffles and homegrown entertainment.
