Christmas in July
July 27, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Sugar Pines Farm, a cut-your-own Christmas tree farm, and Donna’s Christmas Trees, a new local non-profit, are partnering to host a Christmas in July collection event at Sugar Pines Farm, 9500 Mulberry Road, Chester Township.
Donna’s Christmas Trees, Inc. collects unwanted artificial Christmas trees, ornaments and decorations throughout each year and refurbishes them for distribution to families and facilities that are in need of some help during Christmas and all year long.
Visitors can view the Christmas trees, enjoy a hay wagon ride, visit with Santa from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and enjoy holiday refreshments.
The event is free and open to the public. Anyone making a donation of goods or monetary at will receive a 15 percent off coupon good for one item from Sugar Pines Farm to be used during the regular Christmas tree season.

Rubber Stamp Sale
July 27, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Montville Crafters will hold their second annual sale of new and gently used rubber stamps and craft supplies at Montville Community Center, 9755 Madison Road, Montville. The show features over 25 tables reserved selling rubber stamps, punches, card stock, embellishments and more.

Geauga County Democratic Party is hosting its annual family picnic at West Woods Park, Deer Park Shelter, 9465 Kinsman Road, Russell Township.

Kiwanis Summer Concert Series
July 31, 7-9 p.m.
The Kiwanis Club of West Geauga’s summer concert series continues at the gazebo in Chester Township Park with Gaetano’s Underworld Blues Band, a trio that plays creative blues shows that are fun, audience friendly and danceable.
In event of rain, the concert will be moved to Mayfield United Methodist Church, 7747 Mayfield Road, Chester Township.

Family Fun Day

Chesterland Baptist Church, 12670 Chillicothe Road, will host an event for the community, including bouncy houses, food, balloon twister, face painting, crafts and more. All activities and food are free.
School Supply Drive

Family Pride of Northeast Ohio is hosting its third annual school supply drive at the Middlefield Walmart. Help give area students a fresh start for the new school year.

GCRTA Annual Picnic
Aug. 6, 11:15 a.m.
The Geauga County Retired Teachers Association will hold its annual picnic at the Munson Township Park, 12641 Bass Lake Road. Gathering time will be followed by the business meeting at 11:30 a.m. and lunch at noon. Bring a dish to share and table service.
Newly retired teachers and Grant-in-Aid student winners will be introduced and educational grant winning teachers will explain how they used their grants in the classroom. The program will include live music and 50/50 raffle.

Friends of WomenSafe Golf Outing
Aug. 8
Friends of WomenSafe will hold its third annual golf outing, “Greens for the Greenhouse,” at Fowler’s Mill Golf Course. The event will include 18 holes of golf in a scramble format, hole games, breakfast, lunch and a light dinner.
Funds raised benefit the Green House, a shelter for victims of domestic violence, serving Lake, Geauga and Cuyahoga counties.

Raccoon County Music Festival
Aug. 10, 12-7 p.m.
The Raccoon County Music Festival will be held at the Geauga County Historical Society’s Century Village Museum, 14653 East Park St. in Burton. It will feature performances on two stages, square dancing, spontaneous jamming and more.
Food and drink will be available for sale, but event-goers may bring their own meals as well as chairs and blankets.
Admission is $10 for those 13 and older; $5 for children ages 6-12; and free for children under 6.

12th Annual Dice Run
Aug. 17
Sign-up for Chardon Post 6519’s 12th annual Dice Run begins at 10 a.m. at the post located at 752 Water St. Bikes depart at 10:30 a.m. and last bike in is at 4 p.m. There is a new route this year; directions and maps provided at sign-in.
Donation is $20 per rider and $5 per passenger. Event includes 50/50, pull tabs and raffle baskets.
Dinner will be provided at the end of the run with a cash bar.

Chicken Barbecue

Chicken Dinner and Car Show
Aug. 18, 11 a.m.
Edward and Lucy Parish will host the 10th annual Chicken Dinner and Car Show, rain or shine, at 16150 Center St. in Parkman. Event features classic cars and trucks, Chinese auction, raffles, bingo, DJ Cory and family horse racing.
Tickets for the barbecue chicken dinner are $12 for adults and $6 for children 10 and under.
Donation of $10 requested for car show entries. Goodie bags and dash plaques given to first 100 cars. Three prizes will be awarded along with a $200 gas card, compliments of Best Funeral Home. Drawing at 4 p.m. Winner must be present.

Middlefield Chamber Golf Outing
Aug. 23
The Middlefield Chamber of Commerce’s annual golf outing will be held at Rolling Green Golf Course in Huntsburg. Cost is $75 per player or $300 per team. Event is a four person scramble and includes skins and proximity games, long drive contests and prizes for first, second and third places.
Registration is from 7:30-9 a.m. Tee off at 9 a.m. Event is a four-person scramble and includes lunch at the turn, dinner following golf.

Twilight Soiree

The Foundation for Geauga Parks will be holding its annual Twilight Soiree at Veterans Legacy Woods, 14085 Ravenna Road, Newbury Township.
The event includes beverages, dinner, live music by the Dan West and the Real Deal String Band, presentation by Harvey Webster of the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, telescopes and astronomy presentation, silent auction and raffle. Proceeds benefit Foundation programs and educational initiatives.
