Geauga Democratic Party Women’s Caucus will host a fun night at the party headquarters in Newbury Township watching the top 10 Democratic candidates on the debate stage. There will be a straw poll after the debate. Enjoy pizza, popcorn, soda and dessert for a $5 donation.
Auburn Community Picnic
Sept. 14, 12-6 p.m.
Join for Auburn’s Community Picnic at Auburn Community Park, 17484 Munn Road. There will be live music by Profit Band, bounce houses, carnival games and prizes. The Green Bus food truck and i Scream truck will serve up food along with Boy Scout Troop 101’s barbecue chicken and pork dinners for $10.
Enjoy Dr. U.R. Awesome bubbleologist, Cracker Jack the Clown and free popcorn. There will be a free rock climbing wall facilitated by certified instructors. If available, the Medevac helicopter will land for viewing.

50 Gun and Sport Raffle
Sept. 14, 1-9 p.m.
The first annual Geauga Veterans Sport Fest will feature guns, sports equipment and cash to be raffled off at Great Lakes Outdoor Supply, 14855 N. State Ave., Middlefield.
Tickets will be drawn every 30 minutes, from 1-6 p.m.
Purchase tickets online at GeaugaVets.com or from Geauga County-based American Legion posts, Veterans of Foreign Wars posts, the Geauga Veterans Service Center and local retail outlets.Winner need not be present.
Vendors will offer sideboards and raffles. Food trucks and refreshments will be onsite; veteran and local organizations will be present.
Entertainment will begin at 6 p.m. with The Fort Huntsburg Band, and culminate with fireworks at dark at Yoder Bros. Park located at the north end of Thompson Avenue. The fireworks are sponsored by the Village of Middlefield

Village Peddler Festival
Sept. 14-15
The 38th annual Village Peddler Festival will be held on Sept. 14 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sept. 15 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Lake Metroparks Farmpark, 8800 Euclid Chardon Road in Kirtland.
Featuring more than 175 craftsmen and artisans, all items are crafted and made in the styles of traditional, country, contemporary, farmhouse, vintage and fine art.
Event includes food vendors, gourmet market and wagon rides, corn maze and children’s playground and farm animals. The shopping experience will be enhanced by live folk and bluegrass music by The Silver String Band daily from noon to 4 p.m.
Admission is $9 for adults, $7 for seniors over 60 and $5 for children ages 2-11. Children under 2 are free. Parking is free.

Kiwanis Corn Roast

The Kiwanis Club of Chardon is hosting the 11th annual Corn Roast on Chardon Square. For the second year, the Corn Roast will be held in conjunction with the Hand Harvest Handmade Market being sponsored by the Chardon Square Association.
Chardon Kiwanis will provide fresh corn from Sage’s Apple Orchard and sausage sandwiches.
All proceeds raised will go to support Kiwanis Club programs throughout the Chardon area.

Woofstock 2019

Rescue Village’s annual Woofstock festival and fundraiser will be held at Cleveland Metroparks Polo Field. Event features adoptable dogs, live music, dog games and contests, agility course, blessing of the animals, vendors, food trucks and more.
Admission ranges from $5 to $25. Youth 10 and under are free.

The Geauga Soil and Water Conservation District and Geauga Public Health will host a free SepticSmart program at the Patterson Center on the Geauga County Fairgrounds, 14269 Claridon-Troy Road in Burton. Join for an informative presentation with Dave Sage and Zach Myers, registered sanitarians with Geauga Public Health, to discuss how a home septic system works, how to maintain a home sewage treatment system and what to do when it appears to not be working properly.

GCRTA Meeting
Oct. 1, 11 a.m.
The Geauga County Retired Teachers Association will meet at the Grand River Cellars Winery, 5750 Madison Road, Madison. Gathering time will be followed by the business meeting at 11:30 a.m. and chicken lunch at noon.
Dan Rager will present a program on the Geauga County Interurban Railroad and discuss his recently published book, “The Maple Leaf Route, Vol. 2.”
