The sixth annual Christmas in the Barn at Fullercrest craft show and sale will take place at 6415 Windsor Mechanicsville Road in Orwell.

The sixth annual Christmas in the Barn at Fullercrest craft show and sale will take place at 6415 Windsor Mechanicsville Road in Orwell. The sale features craft artisans, gifts and commercial vendors.

Entry fee is $2. Parking is free. Profits from concession sales and Chinese auction will raise funds for the domestic violence awareness group Women Helping Women. For information, call Robbi Zakowski at 304-588-6583.

CVCC Open House

Sept. 28, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Chagrin Valley Chamber of Commerce is hosting its community open house at the Chagrin Falls Middle School. The free family event highlights where community meets local business.

VFW Wednesday Dinners

Wednesdays, 5-7 p.m.

Chardon VFW Post 6519 will serve chili with cornbread on the side every Wednesday in October at the post located at 752 Water St. Donation is $6. Open to the public.

Protect Geauga Parks

Oct. 3, 7 p.m.

Join Protect Geauga Parks for a Conservation Conversation at West Woods Nature Center, 9465 Kinsman Road, Russell Township. Steve Madewell, a conservationist and musician who has worked for four park districts, will present “The Intrinsic Value of Protected Public Open Spaces.” Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

The event is free. Refreshments will be provided.

GEL Breakfast

Andrew Puzder will present “The American Dream” at the next Geauga Economic Leadership (GEL) breakfast at KSU Geauga, 14111 Claridon Troy Road in Burton.

A West Geauga High School alumnus and former chief executive officer of CKE Restaurants, he is also a published author and guest speaker on economic and legal issues.

Munson Guided Trail Hike

Oct. 5, 10:30 a.m. and noon

Celebrate the opening of the new 1.1-mile trail at Scenic River Retreat by hiking with a naturalist from the Western Reserve Land Conservancy. Dress for the weather and wear waterproof footwear. Information will be available about the contributors to the trail, the Foundation for Geauga Parks and ODNR NatureWorks. Light refreshments will be provided.

Church Turkey Dinner

Oct. 5, 4-6:30 p.m.

Huntsburg Congregational Church will hold its annual turkey dinner and raffle at the church located at 12435 Madison Road, Huntsburg Township. Come to the Pumpkin Festival and stay for dinner.

Kiwanis Park Fundraiser

Oct. 5, 5-7:30 p.m.

Support the third annual fundraiser for the Kiwanis Park/Clay Eddy soccer and baseball fields used for Special Olympic events, rec council use and travel soccer in Chester Township. Profits will help pay for the fields’ upkeep.

Dinner options include lobster, steak or clams with grilled chicken. Enjoy live music by The Big 5 Show. Colonial Beverage will be hosting wine tasting and the $45 meal ticket includes dinner, sides and all beverages

Oktoberfest With the Eagles

Oct. 5, 5:30-11 p.m.

Celebrate Oktoberfest with the Chardon Eagles at the Eagles Club, 317 Water St. in Chardon, and show support for Family Pride of Northeast Ohio.

One $20 ticket will buy an Oktoberfest-style dinner, music by the Rhythm Connection, and opportunities to win in a reverse raffle, silent auction and more.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Dinner is at 6 p.m., followed by the reverse raffle from 7-8 p.m.

Fall Fest

Fall Fest will be held on historic Chardon Square. The evening will include hot dogs and cider, s’mores, scarecrow making, balloon artist Stacy Alan, live music by DJ Bryan Baker and face painting by Katie Stone.

The event is sponsored by the City of Chardon, Chardon Tomorrow, Rotary Club of Chardon, Chardon Area Kiwanis and the Chardon Square Association.

Chicken And Duck Dinner

DTJ Taborville is having a chicken and duck dinner at 9850 North Blvd., Chagrin Falls. Cost is $12.50 for an adult dinner and $6.50 for a children’s chicken dinner. A half duck dinner is $17.50.

Wayne Tomsic will provide music for dancing from 12:30-3:30 p.m. Czech beer is available at the bar.

Fall Event Benefits Cat Sanctuary

Oct. 6, 1:30-4:30 p.m.

“A Purr-Fect Autumn Afternoon” will benefit the non-profit, no-kill Happy Tails Cat Sanctuary. The fundraiser will be held at the Cana Winery, 10036 Wilson Mills Road, Munson Township.

The event, featuring variety-filled food stations, a silent auction, 50-50 raffle and cash bar, is $45 per person.

Apple Butter Festival

The annual Apple Butter Festival returns to the grounds of Century Village Museum in Burton. In addition to the making of the Society’s own apple butter products in copper kettles, there will be music, vendors, food and family fun.

Fall Bazaar in Burton

Oct. 12, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The annual Fall Bazaar at Burton Congregational Church will hold its annual Fall Bazaar at the church located at 14558 West Park St. on the square in Burton. Lunch will be served all day. Stop in for the delicious food plus shop the craft vendors, bake sale and rummage sale.

Flying Club Hosts Swap Meet

Oct. 12, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Geauga Radio Controlaires is hosting the eighth annual Jim Gardner Memorial RC Model Swap Meet in the school gymnasium at Willo-Hill Baptist Church, 4200 state Route 306, Willoughby.

Seventy-seven exhibitor tables of radio controlled planes, helicopters, drones, cars, boats, radios, tools and accessories will be displayed for sale, barter and trade by regional modelers.

There will be an auction of new planes and equipment at 12:30 p.m.

Admission is $5. Youth 11 and under are free. Hot food will be available. Parking is free.

Proceeds support the club’s RC flying education programs and maintenance of its flying field in Burton.
