Education leader panelists will share how they are building students' skills for tomorrow's job at the next Geauga Economic Leadership (GEL) Breakfast being held at Kent State University at Geauga 14111 Claridon Troy Road, Burton.

Education leader panelists will share how they are building students’ skills for tomorrow’s job at the next Geauga Economic Leadership (GEL) Breakfast being held at Kent State University at Geauga 14111 Claridon Troy Road, Burton.

Joining are Jeff Slavkovsky, Auburn Career Center; John Stoddard, Berkshire Schools; Bill Kermavner, Cardinal Schools; Ed Klein, Chardon Schools; Nancy Santilli, Kenston Schools; Richard Markwardt, West Geauga Schools; and moderator Jennifer Felker, Geauga County ESC.

Breakfast and networking begin at 7:30 a.m. followed by the presentation from 8-9:30 a.m. Free and open to the public. Registration is appreciated.

G.E.L. Breakfasts are a collaborative partnership between Kent State University at Geauga and Geauga Growth Partnership.

Christmas Gathering

Nov. 1, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Nov. 2, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Chesterland Historical Village will hold its annual Christmas Gathering Boutique and Tea in the restored 1842 Tanner House.

Dressed in her holiday finery, each room is filled with unique, handcrafted gift items, while the parlour features an opportunity to share tea and holiday treats. Guests will enjoy a wonderful shopping experience to begin the holiday season. Admission is free.

Free Fresh Produce

Nov. 2, 9-11 a.m.

Newbury United Community Church will be hosting a fresh produce giveaway at the church located at 14961 Auburn Road.

Cleveland FoodBank provides the service to low income Geauga County residents. Please bring ID and bags.

AYCE Pancake Breakfast

Nov. 3, 8 a.m. to noon

Girl Scout Troop 70563 with the help of the Chardon VFW Post 6519 is hosting a special off-season all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast at the post located at 752 Water St. in Chardon.

Prices range from $6 to $9, cash only. All proceeds will support the Gold Award projects of troop members.

Geauga Dems Host Petition Drive

Nov. 3, 2-5 p.m.

Ohioans for Gun Safety will be sponsoring a petition drive to expand background checks on gun purchases at the Geauga County Democratic Headquarters, 12420 Kinsman Road, Newbury Township.

Annual Turkey Dinner

Nov. 5, 4:30-7 p.m.

The Women’s Fellowship of Parkman Congregational Church is preparing and serving their annual Election Day turkey dinner with all the trimmings at the church located at 18265 Madison Road.

Cost is $12, $6 for children ages 5-11 and free for preschoolers. Adult-size takeouts are available.

Veterans Appreciation Night

Nov. 7, 6:30 p.m.

Burton Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring Veterans Appreciation Night at the American Legion Atwood-Mauck Post 459 in Burton. Meals are free for veterans. Social hour is at 6:30 p.m., followed by the dinner at 7 p.m. and the program.

Gift Of Magi Boutique

Nov. 8 and 9

A preview party for the annual Gift for the Magi holiday boutique will be held Nov. 9 from 7-9 p.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 11900 Chillicothe Road in Chester Township. For adults only, the $5 admission includes preview of the boutique, music, hors d’oeuvres and wine.

The boutique runs Nov. 9 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and features handcrafted items by more than 35 juried crafters and a raffle for a handcrafted Scrappy Lost Sock quilt. Admission is free.

Join the Boutique Bounce on Nov. 8 and 9. Shoppers who visit the boutiques of St. Anselm and St. Mark churches in Chester Township and Old South Church in Kirtland will be eligible for one of three grand prizes. Begin the bounce at any of the churches and get the card stamped at each location. Drawing will be held Nov. 10.

Christmas Boutique

St. Anselm Women’s Guild annual Christmas Boutique will be held at St. Anselm School, 13013 Chillicothe Road, Chester Township. There will be items from more than 80 vendors as well as a snack bar, bake sale and prize raffle with many great prizes. Winners need not be present. Admission is $1.

Veterans Day Dinner

Nov. 9, 5:30-10 p.m.

Chardon VFW Post 6519 is hosting its annual Veterans Day dinner at the post located at 752 Water St. Choose from three different meals. Dinner is free for veterans and family members.

The Back When Band will play from 7-10 p.m. The night includes door prizes, 50/50 raffle and drink specials. Donations will be accepted.

Taste Of Bainbridge

Nov. 9, 6-11:30 p.m.

The 33rd annual Taste of Bainbridge takes place at the Chagrin Valley Athletic Club on Snyder Road. The event features more than 20 restaurants along with multiple raffles and a silent auction.

Social hour with cocktails and appetizers is from 6-7 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 p.m. The casino and dancing begins at 8:30 p.m., when auction winners will be announced.

A limited number of tickets are available for $40 and may be purchased online at TasteofBainbridge.org or by calling Dave Strauch at 440-667-8583.

Proceeds provide funding for the Bainbridge Area Food for Friends, Bainbridge Civic Club’s scholarships and philanthropic donations.

Heroes Of Conservation Awards

Nov. 10, 2-5 p.m.

Protect Geauga Parks will host the fifth annual Geauga Heroes of Conservation awards and reception in the community room of Munson Township Hall, 12210 Auburn Road. The reception will feature the presentation of awards, music, poetry and refreshments.

The 2019 Geauga Heroes of Conservation Reception will honor recipients Tom Curtin, Duane Ferris (d. 2004) and Ann Malmquist (d. 2015).

The Bob McCullough Conservation Scholarships will be awarded to three Geauga students who will graduate in 2020.

Reservations are required. Donations will be accepted.

Chardon Veterans Day Program

Nov. 11, 11 a.m.

Chardon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6519 and Chardon American Legion Post 167 are sponsoring a ceremony on the south steps of the Geauga County Court House on Chardon Square.

Special guest speaker is Master Sgt. Leroy Arthur Petry, U.S. Army veteran, Iraq and Afghanistan war veteran and Medal of Honor recipient.

Veterans Day Open House

Nov. 11, 4:30-7 p.m.

The American Legion Atwood-Mauck Post 459 on Goodwin Street in Burton will host an open house and chili and soup dinner for veterans and family only.
