A preview party for the annual Gift for the Magi holiday boutique will be held Nov. 9 from 7-9 p.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 11900 Chillicothe Road in Chester Township.

Gift of the Magi Boutique

Nov. 8 and 9

A preview party for the annual Gift for the Magi holiday boutique will be held Nov. 9 from 7-9 p.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 11900 Chillicothe Road in Chester Township. For adults only, the $5 admission includes preview of the boutique, music, hors d’oeuvres and wine.

The boutique runs Nov. 9 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and features handcrafted items by more than 35 juried crafters and a raffle for a handcrafted Scrappy Lost Sock quilt. Admission is free.

Join the Boutique Bounce on Nov. 8 and 9. Shoppers who visit the boutiques of St. Anselm and St. Mark churches in Chester Township and Old South Church in Kirtland will be eligible for one of three grand prizes. Begin the bounce at any of the churches and get the card stamped at each location. Drawing will be held Nov. 10.

Christmas Boutique

Nov. 9, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
St. Anselm Women’s Guild annual Christmas Boutique will be held at St. Anselm School, 13013 Chillicothe Road, Chester Township. There will be items from more than 80 vendors as well as a snack bar, bake sale and prize raffle with many great prizes. Winners need not be present. Admission is $1.

Veterans Legacy Woods Reception

Nov. 9, 9-11 a.m.

Geauga Park District celebrates veterans at Veterans Legacy Woods, 14085 Ravenna Road, Newbury Township. Join Judge Timothy J. Grendell, U.S. Army veteran, and John Oros, U.S. Air Force veteran, for a reception thanking veterans for their service. Families may enjoy engaging activities, a naturalist-led hike, EZ Go Cart tours and refreshments.

Taste Of Bainbridge

Nov. 9, 6-11:30 p.m.

The 33rd annual Taste of Bainbridge takes place at the Chagrin Valley Athletic Club on Snyder Road. The event features more than 20 restaurants along with multiple raffles and a silent auction.

Social hour with cocktails and appetizers is from 6-7 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 p.m. The casino and dancing begins at 8:30 p.m., when auction winners will be announced.

Heroes Of Conservation Awards

Nov. 10, 2-5 p.m.

Protect Geauga Parks will host the fifth annual Geauga Heroes of Conservation awards and reception in the community room of Munson Township Hall, 12210 Auburn Road. The reception will feature the presentation of awards, music, poetry and refreshments.

The Bob McCullough Conservation Scholarships will be also awarded to three Geauga students who will graduate in 2020.

Chardon Veterans Day Program

Nov. 11, 11 a.m.

Chardon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6519 and Chardon American Legion Post 167 are sponsoring a ceremony on the south steps of the Geauga County Court House on Chardon Square.

Special guest speaker is Master Sgt. Leroy Arthur Petry, U.S. Army veteran, Iraq and Afghanistan War veteran and Medal of Honor recipient.

Veterans Day Open House

Nov. 11, 4:30-7 p.m.

The American Legion Atwood-Mauck Post 459 on Goodwin Street in Burton will host an open house and chili and soup dinner for veterans and family only.

Gentle Yoga at Chardon UMC

Wednesdays, 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

Join for a gentle, progressive style of yoga suitable for all ages and body types, on the floor or on a chair, at Chardon United Methodist Church, 515 North St. No experience is needed.

Conducted by master teacher and instructor Susan Gundersen, a suggested donation is $10, with proceeds going towards the church’s Guatemala mission. Bring a yoga mat and light blanket and wear comfortable clothing.

Chardon VFW Events

Chardon VFW Post 6519 will serve a spaghetti and meatball dinner every Wednesday in November from 5-7 p.m. at the post located at 752 Water St. Cost is $6 per serving; extra meatballs are 50 cents each. The public is welcome.

The post will also host a sip and paint event Nov. 22 from 6-9 p.m. Paint the infamous leg lamp from “The Christmas Story” with artist Bob Kolcum. A light dinner will be provided. Cost is $35. Sign up at the post.

CV Herb Society Meets

Nov. 15, 12:30 p.m.

The Chagrin Valley Herb Society is sponsoring a lecture about bees and honey by Gene McCune Jr., of McCune Family Apiary of Auburn Township. The program takes place at the Bainbridge Library. Refreshments and a business meeting precede the talk.

Treasures in the Archives

Nov. 12, 7 p.m.

Judith Cetina will present “Treasures in the Cuyahoga County Archives” at the next meeting of the Geauga County Genealogical Society being held at Chardon Public Library, 110 E. Park St.

The program will begin after a short business meeting. The free event is open to all; no registration is needed.

Rescue Mission Dinner

Nov. 15, 5-7 p.m.

Parkman Congregational Church is hosting its monthly fundraising dinner for the Geauga Faith Rescue Mission at the church located at 18265 Madison Road, Middlefield.

November’s dinner features pork chops. Donation is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors over 65, $6 for children 5-10. Free to children under 5. Carryout is available.

Geauga Dems Thanksgiving Dinner

Nov. 21, 6 p.m.

The Geauga County Democratic Party will host its annual Rocco DiFranco Thanksgiving dinner at the headquarters located at 12420 Kinsman Road, Newbury Township. Discuss the previous night’s Democratic presidential debate, the impeachment investigation and the 2020 presidential election. Cost is $25.

Alumni Volleyball Game

Nov. 27, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

All past Newbury Black Knight volleyball players are invited to play in an alumni game at Newbury High School gym. The event is free, but early preregistration is requested so teams can be drawn and matches scheduled. The group will go to Zeppe’s following the event. Register on Eventbrite.

Holiday Volunteers Needed

The Geauga County Department on Aging is in need of volunteers who will deliver meals to seniors who are alone for the holidays.

Volunteers are needed Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28 and Christmas Day, Dec. 25.

Volunteers pick up the holiday meal from the Chardon Senior Center, drive it to the senior’s home and spend some time visiting.

All meals are delivered from the Chardon Senior Center, 12555 Ravenwood Drive.
