The Geauga County Department on Aging is in need of volunteers who will deliver meals to seniors who are alone for the holidays.

The Geauga County Department on Aging is in need of volunteers who will deliver meals to seniors who are alone for the holidays.

Volunteers are needed Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28 and Christmas Day, Dec. 25.

Volunteers pick up the holiday meal from the Chardon Senior Center, drive it to the senior’s home and spend some time visiting.

All meals are delivered from the Chardon Senior Center, 12555 Ravenwood Drive.

Audubon Visits Lake Erie Coastline

Nov. 23, 9 a.m.

Blackbrook Audubon will search the Lake Erie shore, rain or shine. Bring binoculars and spotting scopes to the Cleveland Lakefront Nature Preserve, 8701 Lakeshore Blvd., Cleveland. Other stops will include Wendy Park and Edgewater Park.

The group will gather for lunch at a restaurant near one of the stops on the trip.

Then, on Nov. 24 at 8 a.m., join Blackbrook for its monthly Important Bird Area survey at Beaty Landing. Meet in the parking lot at 543 East Walnut Ave. in Painesville.

Geauga Co. Tea Party Meets

Nov. 26, 6:30 p.m.

Steve Krause, former Ohio District 89 representative, will be the guest speaker at the next meeting of the Geauga County Tea Party at the West Woods Nature Center, 9465 Kinsman Road in Russell Township. Also presenting will be Krause’s associate, Dakota Sawyer on the U.S. Constitution.

Alumni Volleyball Game

Nov. 27, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

All past Newbury Black Knight volleyball players are invited to play in an alumni game at Newbury High School gym. The event is free, but early preregistration is requested so teams can be drawn and matches scheduled. The group will go to Zeppe’s following the event. Register on Eventbrite.

Free Thanksgiving Dinner

Nov. 28, 12-3 p.m.

The Church of St. Anselm is serving a free Thanksgiving dinner in Kelly Hall. Enjoy roast turkey with all the sides and dessert. All are welcome. The church is located at 12969 Chillicothe Road, Chester Township.

Winterfest Lights Up Parkside

Nov. 30, 5:30 p.m.

The Chesterland Rotary Club and the Chester Township Park District will host the eighth annual Winterfest at the Chester Township gazebo in the park at the corner of Mayfield and Chillicothe roads.

Join community members for the park lighting display for the holiday season. Also included will be a bonfire, free popcorn, hot cider and hot chocolate, live music, caroling plus a guest appearance by Santa.

The event is free and open to the public. It will be canceled in the event of rain.

GCP Holiday Networking Event

Dec. 5, 5-7 p.m.

Geauga Growth Partnership will host its holiday networking even at the Sharon James Cellars, 11303 Kinsman Road in Newbury Township. Enjoy a cash bar; appetizers will be provided. All are welcome, both members and nonmembers. Call 440-564-1060 or email info@geaugagrowth.com to register.

Pearl Harbor Day Program
