FGP Explorers Series

June 5, 10:30 a.m.

Join The Foundation for Geauga Parks to explore the southern portion of the Maple Highlands Trail by bike or hike to visit two authentic registered covered bridges constructed by Geauga Park District staff. The program starts at the Headwaters Park trailhead, 13365 Old State Road, Huntsburg Township.

Wool Hollow Festival

June 6, 12-4 p.m.

Chesterland Historical Village hosts the Wool Hollow Festival at the corner of Caves and Mayfield roads in Chester Township. The event features spinning and weaving, knitting and crochet, quilting, bobbin lace making and more. Mary Horvath, a rug hooker and owner of Arrowhead Farm Studio, as well as members of the Western Reserve

Spinners and Weavers Guild will be on-site.

Upcoming events include the flea market on Aug. 21 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Vendors interested in participating may call Sue at 440-478-3462 to reserve a spot.

Geauga Skywatchers Club

June 7, 6:30 p.m.

Learn all about “Geocentrism – Springboard to Copernicus, Part 2,” during a Geauga County Library virtual event. Dr. George Trimble will lead participants as they continue their exploration of the ancient roots of astronomical understanding.

Concert on the Square

June 8, 7 p.m.

Thompson Township resumes its Concerts on the Square with the Northern Comfort Band. Refreshments will be provided by Thompson United Methodist Church; donations will be accepted.

Bring a lawn chair or blanket.

Stop by the arts, crafts and farmer’s market beginning at 5 p.m. before the concert at the north end of the square. Crafters and participants are welcome. Table cost is $5 or bring one’s own. Contact Audrey Kerr 440-862-0043 for more information or to reserve a table.

VFW Schnitzel Sandwiches

Wednesdays, 5-7 p.m.

Chardon VFW Post 6519 will serve schnitzel sandwiches for dinner every Wednesday in June to complement its weekly drawings. Cost is $7 per serving. Fries are an additional dollar. The public is welcome.

Job Fair

June 12, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Middlefield Chamber of Commerce is hosting a job fair at Cardinal Middle School, 16175 Almeda Drive, Middlefield. Admission is free. Food is available to purchase from East Geauga Kiwanis and swiss cheese on a stick booth.

Flag Retirement Ceremony

June 12, 2 p.m.

DeJohn Funeral Homes & Crematory is hosting its annual Flag Retirement and Remembrance Ceremony at the DeJohn Funeral Homes & Celebrations Center, 12811 Chillicothe Road in Chester Township.

Flags are currently being collected at each DeJohn Funeral Homes location in Willoughby Hills, Chester, Chardon and South Euclid.

The ceremony will also feature local VFWs, American Legion and Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops.

Guests are welcome to stay after the ceremony for a picnic.

Walk to Remember

June 13, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Hospice of the Western Reserve’s largest community fundraiser of the year takes place at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, 3900 Wildlife Way, Cleveland. Walk in memory of loved ones while raising funds to support pediatric hospice, music, art and pet therapies, community grief support services and more.

Registration is $25 per adult, $12 per child or $75 per family and is available online or the day of event and includes all-day admission to the zoo and RainForest.

Geauga GOP Event

June 14, 6-8 p.m.

The Geauga County Republican Party is hosting an event catered by Blazin’ Bills at The Rookery’s Great Blue Heron Lodge, 10110 Cedar Road in Chester Township to celebrate Flag Day, former President Trump’s 75th birthday and the 246th birthday of the U.S. Army.

Local and state Republican elected officials and candidates will be in attendance. Collections for non-perishable food donations for the Geauga County Veterans Food Pantry are also welcome.

In conjunction with the event, the Geauga GOP is holding its 2021 annual membership drive.

Protect Geauga Parks Webinar
