Horticulture Flower Show

The Gates Mills Garden Club is sponsoring its bi-annual horticulture flower show featuring a broad range of common and unique plant material displayed for judging. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held at Esquire’s Cottage, the club’s privately owned property located at 1280 Chagrin River Road in Gates Mills.

Free Fresh Produce

July 17, 9-11 a.m.

Newbury United Community Church hosts fresh produce giveaways the third Saturday of each month through August at the church located at 14961 Auburn Road.

Cleveland FoodBank provides the service to low income Geauga County residents. Please bring ID and bags.

Free Sundaes with Geauga Dems

July 17, 12-4 p.m.

Join the grand re-opening of the Geauga Democratic Headquarters, 12420 Kinsman Road in Newbury Township. Held rain or shine under the tent, visit with other like-minded Democrats and enjoy a free ice cream sundae.

Parking Lot Party

July 20, 6-8 p.m.

Lake Geauga United Head Start is hosting a parking lot party at 12406 Madison Road, Huntsburg Township. Tour a Head Start classroom and bus and learn what the program is about.

The event also features Jungle Terry, snow cones, popcorn, giveaways and raffle. All are welcome.

Common Ground Discussion

July 22

Join for The Cleveland Foundation’s Common Ground Discussion on the topic of “Supporting, Encouraging and Attracting Youth to Geauga County,” a conversation co-hosted by Geauga County Public Library, Geauga Growth Partnership, Kent State University Geauga and Leadership Geauga.

The collaborative discussion will endorse the objectives developed by local residents in “Five Years of Growing Common Ground: People, Place, and Shared Power.” Participants will discuss the impact of Geauga County’s aging population, explore ideas regarding how to attract young professionals to live and work in the community and assess how both parties can leverage the experience, expertise, knowledge of retired professionals in Geauga County.

The virtual discussion is July 22 from 8:30-10 a.m. The in-person event is July 22 from 5:30-7 p.m. at Holbrook Hollows in Bainbridge Township. Registration begins at 5 p.m.

Huntsburg Grange Concert

July 31, 6-8 p.m.

Huntsburg Grange summer concerts in the gazebo park located at the corner of state routes 528 and 322 returns with True Country featuring Jim Hein. Food will be available along with a 50/50 raffle and cakewalk. Concert will be held rain or shine; bring a lawn chair.

HomeGrown Geauga

Aug. 5, 6-10 p.m.

Tickets are now on sale for Geauga Growth Partnership’s annual HomeGrown Geauga fundraising event at Sapphire Creek Winery & Gardens, 16965 Park Circle Drive, Bainbridge Township.

Join for an evening of homegrown food, spirits and entertainment, silent and live auctions and a raffle. VIP tickets provide early entry to include private wine and cheese pairing at 5:30 p.m. with a wine and cheese pairing.

Munson Twp. Indoor Flea Market

Aug. 28, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Munson Township’s indoor flea market will be held at the Munson Town Hall & Fire Station Bay, 12210 Auburn Road.  The $1 entrance fee for shoppers goes towards the Munson Township Scholarship Fund. Youth 12 and under are free.

LGC Heritage Program

Leadership Geauga County is offering special community classes for retirees regarding community engagement and networking opportunities. Retirees will learn how to define their next life chapter while engaging with like-minded individuals in making a difference in the community.

Classes meet weekly from Aug. 24 through Oct. 5.

Twilight Soiree

The Foundation for Geauga Parks’ signature event, Twilight Soiree, returns to Big Creek Park Donald Meyer Center in Chardon Township.

The indoor/outdoor celebration of Geauga County’s parks and preserves features catered food, beverages, live entertainment by Harvest, a silent auction and Best of Geauga raffle and more.

Proceeds benefit Foundation programs and educational initiatives.
