CV Herb Society Meets
June 17, 12:30 p.m.
The Chagrin Valley Herb Society will meet at the Bainbridge Library, 17222 Snyder Road. A business meeting will be held after refreshments. The program will be a discussion on planning a personal herb garden with master gardener Jacque Gallager.
July’s meeting will be a trip to Stan Hywett Hall. Payment of $9.50 is due at the June meeting. The group will meet at the library at 9 a.m. to carpool.

Community Fishing Derby
June 18, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Munson Township’s annual community Fishing Derby is open to all Munson Township residents. Join for a morning of fishing fun at the Scenic River Retreat, 10900 Mayfield Road. Bring a fishing pole – catch and release only. Bait will be provided. Door prizes awarded.
Summer Art, Craft and Vendor Show

The Berkshire Tunebackers is hosting Back the Tunes Summer Art, Craft and Vendor Shows the third Saturday of each month through Sept. 17 at the Burton Village circle.
Admission is free. Proceeds benefit the Berkshire School District Music Department.

Geauga Co. Gay Pride Day
June 18, 2-8 p.m.
Geauga County’s first Gay Pride Day will take place on Chardon Square. Featuring comedian Karen Williams as emcee, speakers include retired Ohio Supreme Court Justice William O’Neill, former Gay Peoples Chronicle publisher Martha Pontoni and “award-winning Jewish lesbian rabble-rouser” Brynna Fish.
Enjoy dancing, live entertainment, vendors, mom hugs, face painting, free speech forum and voter registration.

American Legion Steak Roast

The Newbury American Legion will host its annual rib-eye steak roast at the post located at 11008 Kinsman Road, Newbury Township. Cost is $15 per dinner. The event includes a 50/50 raffle; drawing is at 7 p.m. Call Ken at 440-635-6536 for more information and reservations.
Harmony Comes To Chesterland
The Johnny Cake Ridge Singers of the Barbershop Harmony Society has moved to Chester Township. The group is looking for men who love to sing. The group meets Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. at Word of Grace Church, 9021 Mayfield Road.
Gates Mills Garden Tour
June 24 and 25, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Gates Mills Garden Club is sponsoring its biennial garden tour of eight private, exclusive gardens within the village. Held rain or shine, all tour tickets admit attendees to the gardens on both days. The garden club’s barn will be filled with vendors selling a vast array of gardening related items.

Flag Retirement Ceremony

Amateur Radio Field Day

Ham radio operators from the Geauga County area will participate in a national amateur radio exercise from 2 p.m. on Saturday until 2 p.m. on Sunday. The event is ARRL Field Day, an annual amateur radio activity organized since 1933 by ARRL, the national association for amateur radio in the United States.

Polka-Filled Worship and Benefit
June 26, 9:30 a.m.
Join the Chardon Polka Band as it leads a polka-filled worship service at Celebration Lutheran Church, 10621 Auburn Road, Chardon.
Following the worship service, the band will be in concert from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Members of the congregation will provide a free picnic lunch for those in attendance. Bring a lawn chair. Kids are welcome.
Donations will be accepted during the service and concert to benefit Keira, an 11-year-old amputee from Aurora.

Pride in Geauga
June 26, 1-5 p.m.
Pride in Geauga will honor and celebrate sexual orientation and gender identity diversity at Century Village in Burton. Organized by Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI) Support Network, the free, family-friendly event includes music, food and activities for all ages. Regional resources and affirming churches will participate.

Chardon Area Fireworks
July 2
The Chardon Area Fireworks Fund, Inc. has again set in motion its annual campaign to raise funds for the Chardon Area’s Independence Day celebration on Saturday night, July 2. The show will again be shot from the Chardon High School student parking lot. Fireworks are set to blast off at approximately 9:58:39:23 p.m.
The high school will also be open for the Chardon Alumni Association Memorabilia Exhibit. Music and concessions will be provided.

Vendor Spaces Available
July 9, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Booth spaces are available at the 16th annual Geauga County Chapter of the Ohio Horseman’s Council’s (OHC) benefit flea market being held in the picnic shelters area of The West Woods, 9465 Kinsman Road in Russell Township.
Vendors may pay $25 for two parking spaces or $15 for a picnic table inside the shelter.
All vendor fees benefit the OHC and Bridle Trail Fund, administered by the Foundation for Geauga Parks on behalf of the Geauga County Chapter of the Ohio Horseman’s Council.
