Maple Syrup Workshop
April 11, 9:30 a.m. to noon
A hands-on maple syrup grading workshop will be held at the Patterson Center at the Geauga County Fairgrounds.
“Making the Grade: A Guide to Making Quality Maple Syrup” will cover official color grades, from delicate to very dark, along with testing for density and clarity. Participants may bring at least a half-pint of syrup for tasting and evaluation. A guided tasting will help identify flavor profiles and common off-flavors.
The workshop is open to hobbyists and experienced producers. Pre-registration is required at mpneoh.com.
Climate Forum Set
April 11, 10 a.m. to noon
A community forum on climate solutions will be held at the Family Life Center in Bainbridge Township.
“What Geauga Could Be: A Community Conversation on Climate Change” will feature a facilitated discussion with local leaders, experts and residents focused on sustainability and community-driven solutions.
The event is hosted by the Northeast Ohio Community Resilience Centre and partners. All are welcome.

American Legion Pancake Breakfasts
April 12 and 19, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Burton Middlefield American Legion Atwood-Mauck Post 459 is serving its annual all-you-can-eat pancake, sausage and scrambled eggs breakfasts at the post located at 14052 Goodwin St. in Burton. Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 6-13 and free for children under 6.
Open House and Author Talk
April 12, 1-4 p.m.
The Chesterland Historical Foundation and the Cleveland and Eastern Interurban Museum will host Dr. Dan Rager for an open house at the corner of Caves and Mayfield roads in Chester Township.
At 2 p.m., Rager will present his new book, “Ohio: Gateway to America (1776-2026),” exploring 250 years of Ohio transportation history, from Indian trails, taverns and inns, canals and locks, steamboats, railroads, interurbans and bicycles to motorbikes, automobiles and road development. The program will feature photos, maps and insights into how transportation shaped the state’s development.
Genealogical Society Meets
April 14, 6:30 p.m.
The Geauga County Genealogical Society will meet at the Chardon Library for “America’s Roadway to Adventure-Getting There on Rt. 6” with Gary Hunter, executive director Ohio U.S. Route 6 Tourist Association. The program begins at 7 p.m. following social time and a brief business meeting.

Trash and Treasure Sale
April 17 and 18
Parkman Congregational Church is hosting its annual Trash and Treasure rummage sale on Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. The church is located at 18265 Madison Road in Middlefield.
Young of Heart
April 17, 11:30 a.m.
Geauga Young of Heart will meet at St. Anselm Church in Chester Township. Refreshments will be provided. Noel from Pettiti Garden Center will present gardening tips.
Upcoming trips include a June 17 visit to Playhouse Square’s Palace Theatre for “The Great Gatsby,” with dinner at the Music Box Restaurant, and a July 7-9 trip to Gettysburg, Pa., featuring tours of the battlefield, museum, Cyclorama and Eisenhower National Historic Site, along with a performance of “Joshua” at Sight & Sound Theatre in Lancaster.

The Federated Church of Chagrin Falls is holding its annual Trinkets and Treasures sale at the Family Life Center, 16349 Chillicothe Road in Bainbridge Township.
Donation drop-off days are April 18-20, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; gently used items only.
Pre-sale entry day is April 23 from 4-8 p.m. Admission is $10 this day only. The sale continues April 24 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and April 25, half price and bag day, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Happy Tails Benefit Dinner

The non-profit, no-kill Happy Tails Cat Sanctuary is holding its fourth annual “Sunday Dinner with a Purr-pose” benefit at the Banquet Center St. Noel, 35200 Chardon Road in Willoughby Hills.
Registration begins at 1:30 p.m. with a family-style dinner at 2:30 p.m. Event includes silent and Chinese auctions, 50-50 raffle and live entertainment.
