For more information on these programs, contact the park district at 440-286-9516 or visit www.geaugaparkdistrict.org.

Dog Days Of Summer

Geauga Park District will hold its summertime Hound Hikes July 16 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Walter C. Best Wildlife Preserve in Munson Township; Aug. 20 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Orchard Hills Park in Chester Township; and Sept. 17 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Observatory Park in Montville Township.

Plenty of tails will be wagging as humans and their canine companions hike and pause to take in Geauga’s finest parks; pooches will also enjoy cooling their paws in the streams.

Registration is required. Only one non-aggressive dog is allowed per handler, who must be able to fully control the dog at all times on a leash no longer than eight feet. Participants must also bring their own dog towels, water bowls, poop scoops and bags for cleanup.

Out on the Water

Whether it’s before dawn, during the day or beneath a full moon, the time on the water will be the best part of one’s day. Register by phone for any of these opportunities to join a Geauga Park District naturalist for a float. Unless otherwise specified, programs are designed for those already comfortable with being out on the water; no lessons will be given.

***Programs marked with CONNECT give that sense of summer night fun everyone has been craving all year.

Planetarium shows are on July 26, Aug. 9 and 23, and Sept. 13 and 27.

Astronomy programming is also available for visitors of all ages and interests.

Biweekly Friday programs include Exoplanets on July 24 from 7-8 p.m.; What Happened at Serpent Mound on Aug. 7 and 21 from 7-8 p.m.; and Gaining Traction on Mars on Sept. 11 and 25 from 7-8 p.m.
