Wrestling Tournament
Kenston High School will host the 49th annual Kenston Invitational Wrestling Tournament (KIT) on Dec. 28 and 29.
KIS Students of the Month
Kenston Intermediate School is pleased to announce their Students of the Month for December.
Students selected for Student of the Month technology honors were fourth-graders Emmalee Carrion, Reed Dowling, Chase Fazio, Peyton Fazio, Jori Green, Elizabeth Horwitz, Maya Masotti, Jackie McGinnis, T.J. Quay and Nolan Sullivan; and fifth-graders Anthony Alandt, Taylor Ashby, Rachel Flack, Emma Magyarics, Jay Ohlsen, Jack Porter, Bruno Raudins, Isabelle Seewald, Sarah Soryal and Rose Zeldin.
KIS Walking Club
Over 50 percent of fourth and fifth-grade students at Kenston Intermediate School participated in the Recess Walking Club during the first semester. Proctors set up a walking course during recess with students participating walking at least three laps. They could choose to walk or run additional laps and report their daily total to the proctor. Every Friday, walkers were presented with a foot charm to correspond with the number of laps completed.
Kenston Intermediate School principal Jack DiCello recognized the top performing walkers. Top honors were awarded to fourth-graders: Margaret Eibler and Tyler McMahan, first place; Elizabeth Cooper and William Skladany, second place; and Colin Mast and Paige Preneta, third place.
Earning honorable mention honors were Dante Anderson, Taylor Anderson, Noelle Badalotti, Arin Baum, Paige Belew, Delaney Bochenek, Rylee Fisher, Samantha Henrikson, Brandon Johnston, Emily Krooglik, Kelsey LaGanke, Kyle Lindecke, Cade McClintock, Dean Messner, Gillian Oakes, Nathan Pastor, Kylee Pierson, Morgan Polcar, Lydia Reiss, Claire Rottman, Jake Sigh, Grace Spehn, Megan Standley, Paul Stayner, Samantha Stephens, Donaldo Valadez, Moriah Wilson and Hannah Yakovak.
Fifth-graders earning top honors were: Selena Allemann and Matthew Rosinski, first place; Reynaldo Martinez and Samantha Strano, second place; and Emma Gross and Imanol Valadez, third place. Honorable mentions were awarded to Emily Cronin, Samantha Hughes and Grace O’Malley.
The club is just one way to involve students in the district’s Play Blue (Promoting Learning through Active Youth) initiative.
KMS Students of the Month
Kenston Middle School is pleased to announce their Students of the Month. Students selected for Student of the Month honors were sixth-graders Min Bamford, Nick Hamilton, Angela Judge and Ryan Long; seventh-graders Jessica Garrison, Alyssa Kassouf, Tommy Kregenow and Emmett Weil; and eighth-graders Ryan Conover, Kristina Croucher, Gloria Sladek and Jamie Rondo.
Respect the Game
Kenston once again has been recognized by the Ohio High School Athletic Association Sportsmanship, Ethics & Integrity Committee as a recipient of the Respect the Game Challenge. The honor is awarded to schools that submit three examples of innovative sportsmanship; emphasize sportsmanship, ethics and integrity within their school; and have comprehensive programs in place for the student-athlete, student body, student support group as well as parents/fans and coaches.
