American Red Cross blood donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. Eligible blood donors of all types are needed, especially those with O, AB, B negative and A negative.

For more information, call 1-800-733-2767 or visit the Red Cross website online at www.red crossblood.org. The American Red Cross urgently needs blood donors to make an appointment to give this winter.

Blood Pressure Screenings

Lake Health will offer free blood pressure checks at the Chardon Campus, 510 Fifth Ave., from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.

2016 Immunization Clinics

The Geauga County General Health District offers walk-in immunization clinics for children and adolescents through the age of 18. Residents must present an immunization record as well as a primary insurance card. Immunizations are provided free of charge to children without insurance coverage.

Middlefield, Feb. 17, St. Lucy Mission, 16280 Kinsman Road, 9-11:30 a.m.

Troy, Feb. 24, Troy Community Center, 13950 Main Market Road, 9-11:30 a.m.

Monthly Support Groups

Geauga County National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) offers support, education and advocacy for those affected by mental illness.

NAMI Crafters Group will meet Feb. 17 at 2 p.m. at the annex office at 107 South St., Chardon. All are welcome.

Family Support (for those who have a loved one with an illness) meets the second Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Independent Housing Unit, 13230 Aquilla Road, Chardon. The next meeting is Feb. 11.

Middlefield Support (for those who have an illness or have a loved one with an illness) meets at 7 p.m. the fourth Wednesday of each month at the Independent Housing Unit, 13230 Aquilla Road, Chardon. The next meeting is Feb. 24.

Family First Council

Feb. 22, 2 p.m.

Geauga Family First Council will meet at the Geauga County Board of Mental Health and Recovery Services building located on 13244 Ravenna Road in Chardon. Meetings are open to the public.
