American Red Cross blood donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. Donors of all blood types are needed this spring.

The American Red Cross, Cedar Fair theme parks and iHeartMedia/Cleveland Region are partnering to offer a free Cedar Fair theme park ticket, including Cedar Point, to those who come out to donate blood at select blood drives. Donors can also enter to win one of two grand prize packages for four to Knott’s Berry Farm in California or Cedar Point.

The Geauga County General Health District offers walk-in immunization clinics for children and adolescents through the age of 18. Residents must present an immunization record as well as a primary insurance card. The following is a list of upcoming immunization clinics:

Peaceful Parenting

June 7, 14 and 21, 6-8:30 p.m.

The Ohio State University Extension in Geauga County offers parenting classes to address everyday dilemmas and strategies for peacefully raising children.

Peaceful Parenting, a three-part class for parents of children 0-17 years of age, will be presented by Terri Worthington, extension educator, at the OSU office in Chardon, 470 Center St., Building 5A.

Cost is $35. To register, call the OSU Extension office at 440-834-4656.

Blood Pressure Screenings

Lake Health will offer free blood pressure checks at the Chardon Campus, 510 Fifth Ave., from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.

NAMI Speaker Meeting

June 29, 6:30 p.m.

Arthur Brite will be the guest speaker at the NAMI Geauga County educational speaker meeting at Notre Dame Educational Center, 13000 Auburn Road, Chardon.

He will share his personal experience with mental illness, which has made him a best-selling author and keynote speaker. He will discuss his newly released book, “Find Your Extraordinary!”

Monthly Support Groups

Geauga County National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) offers support, education and advocacy for those affected by mental illness.

Peer Support (for those with mental health issues) meets every Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the annex office, 107 South St., Chardon.

NAMI Crafters Group will meet June 1 and 15 at 2 p.m. at the same location. All are welcome.

Family and Friend Support (for those who have a loved one with an illness) meets the second Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. at Geauga West Library in Chester Township. The next meeting is June 9.

Middlefield Peer and Family Support (for those who have an illness or have a loved one with an illness) meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Middlefield Library, 16167 E. High St., Middlefield. The next meeting is June 22.
