LGRC Alumni Pancake Breakfast

Sept. 24, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers Alumni Association is hosting its third annual pancake breakfast to commemorate National Recovery Month at the First Church Congregational UCC located at 22 Liberty St. in Painesville. The event is being presented with support from the Lake County Alcohol, Drug Addiction, and Mental Health Services (ADAMHS) Board.

The all-you-can-eat breakfast, which is open to the public, is $5 for adults and $3 for children ages 10 and under. No registration is necessary.

Miles for Mental Health

Sept. 25, 1 p.m.

Join for the first annual NAMI Geauga County two-mile walk. Registration and check-in begins at Chardon United Methodist Church, 515 North St. The walk continues to Chardon Square for a rally and prizes at the Heritage House before returning to the church.

Registration fee is $25. Proceeds benefit NAMI Geauga programs.

NAMI Speaker Meeting

Attorney David S. Banas will be the guest speaker at the NAMI Geauga County educational speaker meeting at Notre Dame Educational Center, 13000 Auburn Road, Chardon. He will present “Understanding Medicaid and Benefits Available to Individuals with Mental Illness.”

He will discuss common misconceptions, myths and misunderstandings about Medicaid, Social Security benefits and financial resources available to individuals and families impacted by mental illness.

Women’s Health Expo Set

Oct. 1, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The public is invited to attend a free community education event featuring health information of special interest to women.

Presented by University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center, the 10th annual Women’s Health Expo will be held at Signature of Solon, 39000 Signature Drive, Solon.

In addition to clinical experts from UH Geauga Medical Center, the event includes speakers and resources from UH Ahuja, Bedford and Richmond medical centers.

Participants will hear presentations and panel discussions on topics including women’s and breast health, acupuncture and integrative medicine, heart and vascular disease and more. Free health screenings will also be available and a complimentary brunch is provided.

The event is free, but space is limited and reservations are required. Call 1-877-597-6348 to register by Sept. 23.

Blood Pressure Screenings

Lake Health will offer free blood pressure checks at the Chardon Campus, 510 Fifth Ave., from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.
