County Offers Flu Shots
Geauga County Health District will provide flu shots for anyone over 19 years old from 8:30-11 a.m. every Friday during the season beginning Oct. 7 at 470 Center St., Building 8, Chardon.
The cost to individuals paying in cash is $40, or, for high-dose vaccine for those 65 and older, $60. The health district is able to accept most Medicare and employer health insurance plans.
No appointment is necessary, but residents may call the health district at 440-279-1950 to preregister and have insurance verified.

Blood Pressure Screenings
Lake Health will offer free blood pressure checks at the Chardon Campus, 510 Fifth Ave., from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.
2016 Immunization Clinics
The Geauga County General Health District offers walk-in immunization clinics for children and adolescents through the age of 18. Residents must present an immunization record as well as a primary insurance card. The following is a list of upcoming immunization clinics:

Free Mental Health Screenings
Oct. 6, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The Geauga County Board of Mental Health and Recovery Services is recognizing Oct. 6 as National Depression Screening Day, which is held annually as part of Mental Illness Awareness Week.
Ravenwood Health will be conducting free screenings at its office located at 12557 Ravenwood Drive, Chardon. Screenings can be done for depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder or post-traumatic stress disorder. Walk-ins are welcome or call 440-285-3568 for an appointment.
NAMI Speaker Meeting

Attorney David S. Banas will be the guest speaker at the NAMI Geauga County educational speaker meeting at Notre Dame Educational Center, 13000 Auburn Road, Chardon. He will present “Understanding Medicaid and Benefits Available to Individuals with Mental Illness.”
He will discuss common misconceptions, myths and misunderstandings about Medicaid, Social Security benefits and financial resources available to individuals and families impacted by mental illness.

Life Line Screening Event

Residents living in and around the Chardon can learn about their risk for cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, diabetes and other chronic, serious conditions with affordable screenings by Life Line Screening. The Banquet Room at St. Mary’s will host the community event at 401 North St. in Chardon.
Packages start at $149, but consultants will work to create a package that is right for patients based on their age and risk factors. Free parking is available.
