Parent Education Programs
Family Pride of Northeast Ohio, Inc. is offering Active Parenting and Cooper-ative Parenting classes at its office at 695 South St., Unit 6 in Chardon.
Cooperative Parenting group will provide a safe place for parents to develop appropriate skills to co-parent their children. Topics include: the effects of divorce/separation on children, a plan for peace between parents and child-centered negotiation skills. It is an eight-week group that meets weekly for one and one-half to two hours beginning Aug. 8.
The Active Parenting group will provide an opportunity for parents with children ages 5-12 to learn skills to build courage and character in their child, use positive discipline, improve communication and help the family run more smoothly. It is a six-week group that meets weekly for one and one-half hours beginning Sept. 8.
The class is free, but registration is required by calling 440-286-1553.
Health and Wellness Fair
Aug. 8, 9 a.m. to noon
New Promise Church will host a Health and Wellness Fair at the church, 8671 Euclid-Chardon Road in Kirtland. There will be school backpacks and supplies, children’s haircuts, dental services, vision screening, pharmacy, food and education booths.
This free event is available to those who are unemployed, underemployed or just in need of these services. Children must be present to receive backpacks and school supplies.
