There will be many family friendly activities such as storytelling, puppets and face painting. All activities are free or of nominal charge.
Performers include The Chardon Polka Band, Jasmine Dragons, The Stockdale Family Band, Allison Piccioni and The Logos, Mr. Haney Bluegrass Band. Indoor venues, including Main Street merchants, are planned in case of rain.
Saved by the Serendipity Circus
Geauga Lyric Theater Guild’s Angela Miloro-Hansen will present a traditional melodrama, “Saved by the Serendipity Circus,” at 2 p.m. June 8. Complete with the historically correct booing and hissing from the audience, the free performance is part of the HeART of Geauga Arts Jam taking place all day on and around Chardon Square beginning at noon.
Theatrical performances, dance, music, poetry and the visual arts will be featured as part of the Arts Jam. There will be many opportunities for audience participation, including workshops and demonstrations for participants of all ages and many family-friendly activities for younger artists.
There will be live music in the gazebo all afternoon with more than 50 performers and performing groups will participate throughout the day. Arts activities and performances will also be hosted at selected Main Street merchants. A schedule of events is available at www.chardonartsjam.org and will be available on the Square the day of the event.
The Arts Jam will culminate in an evening performance, The Artist Within, at Geauga Theater beginning at 8 p.m. The performance will feature community members who lead double lives as fine artists. Former WKSU radio personality and folk music guru Jim Blum will host the evening.
Events during the day and evening will be free or of nominal charge to the public. Seating for the evening performance is limited and will be available on a first-come basis.
Sponsors of the event include: Geauga Council for Arts and Culture, The Geauga Lyric Theater Guild, The Junction Auto Family, Burr Funeral Home, The Alvord Agency Insurance and Precision Orthopaedic Specialties, Inc., and the Geauga County Maple Leaf.
