The sunrise on Oct. 23 was just awesome, but it is clouding over, so we may be in for some rain.

On Sunday, I was invited up to son Wayne’s for brunch. Wayne made brunch on the grill. It was delicious. In the afternoon, my visitors were Eli and Nancy J. Byler, stopping in after church. In the evening, son Ray, son Perry, Katie Ann and David, son Wayne and family went out to son Mark’s for Fan’s birthday. We had grilled burgers, hot dogs and chicken, salad, chips, cake and ice cream. It was a beautiful evening to sit outside. Soon that will come to an end for this year.

Leaving for South Dakota the morning of Oct. 20 were Dan and Sylvia Miller and children, Paul, Andrew, Cindy, Chester, Timmy and married son, Danny Ray and Betty. On Saturday, they toured Wisconsin Dells and stopped at the Cabelas store. Monday, they went to tour Terry Redlins Paintings and the Larson Door Co., where Dan gets his door supplies. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday they were planning to go pheasant hunting and then leave for home on Saturday sometime. Jacob Schlabach is taking care of the door shop while Dan’s are gone.

On Oct. 23, the family was planning a birthday surprise for son Joe’s 50th birthday. We had different kinds of pizzas plus cake, ice cream and all the trimmings.

Toby Stoltzfus is a patient at University Hospitals again after having an infection in his knee following knee surgery. Mail will reach him at 16014 Shedd Road, Middlefield, OH 44062. I am sure they could use some cheer.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Uria E. Yoder family since their son is in University Hospitals following an accident, leaving him with head injuries. He is 18 years old.

It really began feeling like fall the morning of Oct. 24. Leaves are falling fast and the rain will help the new grass seed to grow. They put in a new lawn around my patio.
