Keeping Safe and Having Fun
Notre Dame Elementary School students in grades K-3 participated in the Office Phil Safety Program this week. They learned about stranger danger, the negative effects of bullying, Internet safety, fire and gun safety and how to be a good friend, all while having fun.
Flat Stanley’s Adventures
Mrs. Coates’ third-grade sent their Flat Stanleys on an adventure.
Flat Stanley is a story about a young boy who leads an ordinary life until one day a bulletin board falls on him and suddenly Stanley is flat. He gets rolled up and mailed and even flown like a kite.
The Stanleys from Mrs. Coates’ class traveled to Virginia where he saw George Washington’s actual office. He also went to Colorado where he rode on a gondola. Stanley went on a cruise to the Cayman Islands.
He also traveled out of the United States. Stanley went to Germany and celebrated the Viehscheid, which is when all of the cows come down from the mountains to spend the winter in the valley. In India, Flat Stanley met a mahout, which is an elephant keeper. He rode on an elephant through the jungle and saw a tiger. Finally, Stanley went to Croatia and ate some traditional food and saw a soccer game.
The children brought their Stanleys to school and shared their adventures. They certainly did travel the world.
