Nights Out In The Parks
Nights Out in the Parks return to Geauga Park District on special Saturdays in June, July and August three outdoor movie nights, four outdoor amphitheater shows and a workshop.
“Listening to the Wind” Windchime Workshop is July 16 from 6:30-9 p.m. at the West Woods’ newly renovated Affelder House, 15139 Chillicothe Road in Russell Township. Create a wind chime from objects including kiln-fired clay leaves, shells, wood, crystals and glass beads. A fee of $24 covers all materials and instruction. Registration required.
Free movie nights will offer up the perfect doses of summer nostalgia under the stars of three different parks: “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial” on June 25 at Observatory Park in Montville Township; “Field of Dreams” on July 23 at Big Creek Park in Chardon Township; and episodes from the Ken Burns film “The National Parks: America’s Best Idea” on Aug. 13 at Orchard Hills Park in Chester Township.
Movie-themed activities begin at 8:30 p.m., including free popcorn and lemonade, and each film will begin at dark. Bring blankets and lawn chairs and make it a night, especially at Big Creek Park where a camping spot may be reserved in advance.
Big Creek Park will also be home to Nights Out outdoor amphitheater shows from 7-8:30 p.m. with refreshments served. Enjoy Bob Kravos & the Boys in the Band on June 11, The New Barleycorn on July 9 and Cleveland Opera Theater on July 30. Amphitheater shows will move indoors in case of inclement weather.
