Frozen Artistry

Geauga Park District’s Frozen Artistry Community Art Exhibition showcases 335 works by 100 regional artists, making it the largest park art exhibition ever hosted, all beautifully capturing ice and snow as Nature’s wintertime art.

Exhibition hours are daily 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through April 19 at The West Woods Nature Center, 9465 Kinsman Road in Russell Township. While most of the displayed artwork is for sale, admission to view the exhibition is completely free.

The West Woods Nature Center also currently houses the Something’s Afoot: Nature Just Can’t Stay Put and Return to the Ice Age special exhibits, the Tree Tops Nature Store, free snowshoe rental, a room of self-led classroom activities for the young ones and a full wall of windows overlooking the very popular wildlife feeding station.

Nature’s Not To Be Missed

Spring Has Sprung Salamander Run takes place late March to early April, based on naturalist’s assessment, from 8-9:30 p.m. at The West Woods Nature Center, 9465 Kinsman Road in Russell Township.

Register one’s name on a call list to witness the natural phenomenon of spring breeding behavior of wood frogs and spring peepers with hopes of catching the rain-driven march of large salamanders to woodland pools.

Plan on short notice as the decision to hold the program is based on the amount and timing of rain, temperature and more, so set out appropriate clothing and flashlights for the visit. People on the call list will be notified in the late afternoon on the day of, or possibly the day before, the program.

Get on the call list; the program fills up quickly.
