Homeschool Days: Habitat Hide and Seek

Oct. 9, 2-3:30 p.m.

Big Creek Park, Aspen Grove Shelter

Youth, ages 5-8 and 9-12, will search pond, forest and meadow for small critters that call these habitats home. Registration required.

Tour the Nassau Astronomical Observing Station

Oct. 9, 7-9 p.m.

Observatory Park,

Robert McCullough Science Center

Take a “sneak peek” tour of the restoration efforts to reopen the Nassau Station. Meet at the McCullough Science Center to shuttle in small groups. Registration required.

Fall Fest

Oct. 10, 3-7 p.m.

Swine Creek Reservation,

Woods Edge Shelter

Celebrate autumn with fun including horse-drawn wagon rides, kayaking, fishing, face painting, balloon art, treats and much more. Maple Highlands Trail dedication is at 3 p.m. Activities include wagon rides from 3:30-6:30 p.m. and a night hike at 7 p.m.

Observatory Park Funday

Oct. 11, 1-4 p.m.

Observatory Park, Cygnus Shelter

Drop in anytime for fun weather- and astronomy-related activities including a scavenger hunt. The Sky Tonight Planetarium Show about what to watch for in the night sky is from 2-3 p.m.

Fall Color Canoe Float

Oct. 11, 1-3 p.m.

Bass Lake Preserve

Ages 12 and older with an adult will paddle along the peaceful shores of this ancient glacial lake and enjoy the autumn color. Registration required.

Fall Color Hike Around the Reservoir

Oct. 17, 1-4:30 p.m.

Headwaters Park,

Route 608 parking lot

Enjoy the beautiful fall colors on a 7-mile hike around the scenic East Branch Reservoir. This is a special opportunity to see the preserve side of the reservoir not open to the public. Registration required.

Geauga’s Amazing Owl Call

Oct. 17, 7-9 p.m.

The West Woods, Nature Center

Learn amazing facts about these mysterious nocturnal predators, then head outdoors to try calling in our three local owls: great horned, barred and screech owls.
