Geauga Cemeteries: History Written in Stone

Welton Cemetery
Explore the historic cemetery on Goodwin Avenue in Burton, which is also a history museum, wildlife refuge, botanical garden and art gallery. Participants will also venture to Burton’s Memorial Cemetery, where some of Geauga’s earliest settlers are buried. Registration required.
Howl’oween Hound Hike

Pine Grove Shelter
Parade through the park with one’s favorite pooch costumes are optional, but encouraged. Bring dog towels, a water bowl, poop scoop and bags for cleanup. One dog per handler must remain on leash no longer than eight feet and be non-aggressive to people and other dogs.
Geauga Walkers
Nov. 3, 1-2:30 p.m.
Big Creek Park, Tupelo Pond Parking
Join other active seniors on weekly hikes typically one and one-half miles long. A naturalist leads hikes held in Park District parks.

Waterfowl Float: Canoe With Quackers
Nov. 8, 1-2:30 p.m.
Burton Wetlands Nature Preserve,
Lake Kelso
After scanning the waters from the observation blind, paddle among migratory waterfowl on glacial Lake Kelso.
Ages 12 and older with an adult. Canoeing skills and registration required, begins Nov. 1.
Backcountry Ravine Hike
Nov. 8, 1-3:30 p.m.
Big Creek Park, Deep Woods
Join a naturalist on a rugged off-trail adventure to explore hemlock ravines, discovering wildlife of the tributary streams of Big Creek. Registration required.
