Tree-Tapper’s Ball
It’s time for the 25th annual old-fashioned square dance to celebrate Geauga Park District tappin’ season.
Tree Tapper’s Ball takes place March 8 from 7:30-10:30 p.m. at Parkman Community House, 16295 Main Market in Parkman Township.
Returning to the ball is Bob Smakula, a professional instrument repairman from Elkins, W.Va., who will have soon called 23 of the 25 balls.
The Cordwood Cut-ups will provide old-time string band music for the whole family on fiddle, clawhammer, banjo, mandolin, guitar and bass. Steps will combine square and line dances.
Registration is open for the free event, limited to eight per registering party. Dancing is upstairs at Parkman Community House, which is not equipped with a ramp or elevator. Dress casually.
Who’s There?
Many are heard under the cover of darkness, and some are only heard at certain times of the year, but being able to recognize the peeps, grunts, whistles, hoots and howls heard outside helps one appreciate and enjoy their musical chorus.
The Voices of Nature takes place March 2 from 1-2:30 p.m. at The West Woods Nature Center, 9465 Kinsman Road in Russell Township.
Registration is not required.
