Register For Claridon Twp. Senior Trash Pickup

Claridon Township Trustees and the Claridon Road Crew are joining forces with the Geauga County Department on Aging for the Claridon Township Senior Trash Pick-Up Day May 16.

To register for trash pickup, one must be 60 years of age or older and live in Claridon Township. The township road crew and the Department on Aging will pick up refuse from registered seniors who need assistance and take it to the township dumpster.

No liquids, paint, or other hazardous materials, construction or remodeling debris, rocks, yard waste, household garbage, televisions, computer monitors or small appliances with electrical components will be accepted.

A maximum of four tires off the rim, propane tanks, appliances and other unwanted items will be accepted.

Only 10 household items per home and the trash should be from the registered senior’s household only. Items must be left by the garage, not curbside.

Seniors must be registered with the Department on Aging prior to pickup and must be home the day of the pick up, or have someone 18 years of age or older that is appointed by the senior present to sign a release for collection.

The cleanup is on a first-come, first-serve basis. The number of senior residents that can be served is limited.

Senior Golf Outing Announced

The Geauga Senior Board of Trustees is hosting the first of the summer golf outings May 15 at Fowler’s Mill Golf Course on Rockhaven Road in Munson Township. Check-in is at 8 a.m., with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.

The cost is $23 for nine holes of golf, a cart and lunch. Mail or drop off a check made payable to the Geauga Senior Center, Attn: Senior Golf, Send check to 12555 Ravenwood Drive, Chardon, OH 44024, by May 10. Mark the envelope golf.

Jewelry Making Classes: May 3 and 17, 10 a.m. Volunteer instructor Merry Knuckles will help seniors create beautiful jewelry to keep or for gift-giving. The supplies and instruction needed to complete the projects will be available. Cost is dependent upon the supplies selected.

Coffee with a Commissioner: May 8, 9 a.m. Geauga County Commissioner Tracy Jemison will join seniors in the dining room for coffee and conversation.
