Garden Party, Concert

The Hills are sponsoring the Garden Party & Free Concert at the Chardon Senior Center Aug. 15 from 5-8 p.m. There will be live entertainment with The Four Kings, a jumping Motown band.

The Geauga County Department on Aging will be holding their ribbon cutting for the grand opening of their new gardens, which are absolutely stunning. There will be a putting contest on the new putting green, corn hole games, a hula-hoop contest and more.

The Hills are sponsoring a free ice cream stand. Bring a picnic and lawn chairs. Picnic foods will also be available for purchase.

Bainbridge/Chagrin AARP

The Bainbridge/Chagrin AARP 4527 meets the first Tuesday of every month at 1 p.m. at the Bainbridge Town Hall, 17826 Chillicothe Road. The next meeting is Aug. 6.

All seniors are welcome to enjoy coffee and listen to the songs by the Geauga Golden Oldies.

A brief meeting will include a discussion of upcoming trips, dinners and other activities scheduled for August, September and October. Refreshments will be served after the meeting.

The group is still collecting nonperishable food, paper products and school supplies, especially boxes of Kleenex, for the Food For Friends pantry, as well as soup labels, pop tabs, pillowcases and sewing items to make dresses for the little girls in Africa. Also needed are travel size baby wipes, beef jerky, canned tuna and chicken, individual packs of cereal and soup, hand sanitizer, nuts, Q-tips, shaving cream and sun block for the USO.
