Volunteers Needed for Geauga Cleanup Days
The Geauga County Department on Aging is in need of volunteers to help during the 2014 fall Clean-up Geauga Days. The event will kick off Oct. 4 and run through November, weather permitting.
Many seniors can no longer rake their yards, weed flowerbeds, clean up yard debris or wash windows. This is where volunteers can make a difference. By volunteering just a few hours of time, one can help senior citizens remain independent and allow them to live in a safe, clean environment.
The Department on Aging would like to salute those who have helped in the past. Without their help and the generous gift of their time, the department would not be able to provide the level of service to its senior citizens.
Volunteers will generally be assigned close to their homes to make the most of their volunteer time. Some volunteers, however, may choose another area in which they would like to work.
Individuals or groups who can help during the fall Clean-up Geauga Days are asked to contact the Department on Aging at 440-279-2130, 440-564-7131, ext. 2130, or 440-834-1856 ext. 2130 and ask for Bob Debevits, home main-tenance coordinator, or Bill Phillips, volunteer coordinator, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
