Young of Heart

May 15, noon

St. Anselm Young of Heart will meet at the Parish Center. The speaker will be Tim Finely, who will talk about his climb up Mt. Kilimanjaro, which is 19,340 feet high.

A trip is planned to see Bobby Vinton with the Tom Fries Orchestra on June 28 at the Mentor Fine Arts Center in Mentor.

The cost is $74 ($77 for non-members). The price includes bus transportation, dinner at Hometown Buffet at 3 p.m. (tax and gratuity included) and the Bobby Vinton performance at 5 p.m. For reservations, call Jeri at 440-729-2239.

Senior Trash Pickup

Seniors must be registered with the Department on Aging for 2015 prior to the pickup and/or before being be placed on the pickup list. Check the monthly Geauga County Department on Aging newsletter for specific township or city guidelines.

Upcoming dates are:

Auburn Township: June 4-5

Huntsburg Township: June 11

Newbury Township: June 8-10

Chardon: June 17-18

Burton Village: In June; specific dates to be announced.

Out of County Medical Transportation

The Geauga County Department on Aging’s Out of County Medical Transportation Program offers free rides for Geauga County seniors 60 and over to their “out of county” medical appointments in Lake, Cuyahoga, Portage, Ashtabula and Trumbull counties. Transportation is available Monday through Friday on a first-come, first-serve basis and has wheelchair accessible vehicles, if needed.

It is a curb-to-curb service and individuals need to be able to be able to get in and out of the medical buildings on their own. A family member or attendant can also ride with senior.

When calling to book a ride, please provide one’s name, address and phone number; the doctor’s name, address and phone number; the appointment date and time and approximately how long the appointment may last. Donations accepted.
