Bainbridge/Chagrin AARP

The Bainbridge/Chagrin AARP 4527 will meet at the Bainbridge Town Hall, 17826 Chillicothe Road in Bainbridge Township.
The Chordials, a Sweet Adeline group, will perform. After the program, there will be a brief meeting and refreshments.
Upcoming bus trips include a trip a trip to Rivers Casino on June 17 for a cost of $29, with a casino bonus of $20; and an island hopping trip on July 22. The group will bus to Sandusky and catch the Goodtime I for a ride over to Kelly’s It’sland for a tram tour and then back on the Goodtime I for lunch and ride to Put-In-Bay It’sland. Enjoy a tram tour as well as free time to visit before boarding the Goodtime I back to Sandusky to catch the bus back home. Cost is $85 per person. Reservations required by June 20.

Spring Assist Battery Replacement
Seniors, ages 60 and older, who need help changing the batteries in their smoke detectors may call FirstLight HomeCare, which will come to senior citizens’ homes to remove the old smoke detector batteries and replace them with new free batteries donated by the Geauga County Department on Aging.
Spring Assist is open to the first 100 requests.

Register for Senior Trash Cleanup Days
To register for trash pickup, one must be 60 years of age or older, live in the community holding the trash pickup and be registered with Geauga County Department of Aging. The Department on Aging and the road crew will pick up refuse from registered seniors who need assistance and take it to the township dumpster.
No liquids, paint, antifreeze, motor oil or other hazardous materials, construction debris, rocks, brush, leaves, grass clippings, yard waste, tree trunks or household garbage will be accepted.
All material should be consolidated in strong boxes and items should be kept dry and covered with a tarp if possible. Only 10 household items per home and the trash should be from the registered senior’s household only and clearly marked.
Seniors must be registered with the Department on Aging prior to pickup. For more information and to register, call the Department on Aging at 440-279-2129, 440-279-2135 or 440-279-2130 weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
