Students, Staff Get Sheared In The Name Of St. Baldrick
It was an exciting and crazy afternoon on March 19 when Chardon High School students and staff lined up in droves for the St. Baldrick event, which involved getting their heads shaved and raising money for children battling cancer.
The St. Baldrick Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity that funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization other than the U.S. government. The Chardon High School effort, led by Assistant Principal Michael Sedlak, raised over $8,000 for the cause, giving hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancer. More than 60 students and staff followed his lead and collected donations to have their heads shaved.
Chardon Schools Foundation Auction Raises Over $16,000
The Chardon Schools Foundation (CSF) wishes to thank the local community, businesses, organizations and individual donors and bidders for another successful spring auction held March 4.
“We appreciate everyone’s generous support of our mission through this event” states Debbie Hofstetter, auction chair. “We especially thank our sponsors Middlefield Bank and Windstream for their generous underwriting as well as G-TV.”
The auction is a successful community event involving students, parents, concerned community members and businesses. Established in 1989, The Chardon Schools Foundation, a 501(c) 3 organization, believes that excellent schools are essential to the economic and social welfare of the community it serves.
CSF financially supports educational projects and initiatives that will add excitement and imagination to the learning process. CSF has funded over $15,000 in grants to teachers each year for the past several years, helping to make possible many new and innovative learning programs.
The Chardon Schools Foundation exists through the support of local donors. Their generous gifts keep CSF’s funding vibrant and responsive to the needs of children in the Chardon Local School District. Anyone who missed the auction and would like to make a donation may send a contribution to P.O. Box 838, Chardon, OH 44024. Or, make a donation online at the CSF website. A gift in any amount is greatly appreciated.
