Congratulations to Timmons Elementary School Students of the Month for February. The following first-graders honored with “compassion” awards were: Hunter Brownfield, James Cerha, Victoriana Grunwald, Jacob Maniawski, Moises Martinez, Sheridan Pitcher, Maxwell Robarge and Samantha Sunderhaft.
Second-graders were Ethan Gertsburg, Lainey Glasscock, Sarah Johnson, Benjamin Nelson, Ember Reeves, Dominik Stupica, Jacob White and Calleigh Wyers. Third-graders were Summer Cooper, Audrey Cowan, Gwen Gembarski, Jaclyn Hummer, Kaitley Kwasniewski, Veronika Ptackova, Piper Riley, Julia Sell and Katrina Vokurka.
KIS Students Of The Month
Kenston Intermediate School is pleased to announce their Students of the Month for February.
Students selected for Student of the Month “citizenship” honors were fourth-graders Joey Bing, Delaney Bochenek, Harper Corto, Morgan DiRocco Maggie Eibler, Ethan Grossberg, Autumn Hamby, Spencer Koch, Emma Rumbarger and Grace Spehn; and fifth-graders Colby Basel, Davide Costa, Anna Eichelberger, Eden Kesler, Ellie Mills, Claire Nidy, Lizzy Novak, Grace O’Malley, Jillian Pahner and David Simmons.
Students Of The Quarter
The following eighth-grade students at Kenston Middle School received the student of the quarter award certificate. Students were nominated for the award based on their achievement and success during the second grading quarter.

Selected for special recognition were freshmen Emily Nichols and John McMicken; sophomores Caroline Kiley and Thomas Rastatter; juniors Katie Gross and Christopher Ross; and seniors Bob Craig and Kelsey Trimm.
Janus Magazine Honored
The Kenston High School literary magazine, “Janus,” was honored with a rank of “Excellent” in the 2012 National College of Teachers of English Program to Recognize Excellence in Student Literary Magazines. Over 410 schools entered the 2012 program and only 18 from Ohio received recognition.
Student Editors of the 2012 edition were Lindsay Cook, Bob Craig, Cara Fagerholm, Kyle Kennedy, Bridget Kolibab, Geoff Masters, Hannah Sellers, Bridget Wiberg and Ali Wittenberg. Nicole Costigan was the faculty advisor.
Science Olympiad Team Advances To State Tourney
The Kenston High School Science Olympiad Team secured its ninth state berth in the team’s nine year history at the regional tournament held at Case Western Reserve University. The team’s fifth place finish secured the students the fourth spot for the region for the state tournament held on April 27 in Columbus.
Individual winners who placed sixth or better were: Materials Science: Jacob Enders and Cara Fagerholm, first place; Chem Lab: Zach Roshon and Jacob Enders, second Place; Forestry: A.J. Tatro and Rachel Sauder, third place; Rocks and Minerals: Alexis Flemming and Paul Gray, third Place; Thermodynamics: Cara Fagerholm and Zach Roshon, third place; Astronomy: Paul Gray and Seth Blankenship, fourth place; Boomilever: Vinothan Sivapalan and Eric Ryan, fourth place; Circuit Lab: Mitchell Babej and Andrew Krause, fourth place; Elastic Launched Glider: Zach Roshon and Jacob Enders, fourth place; Fermi Questions: Zach Roshon, and Andrew Krause, fourth place; Water Quality: Lindsay Cook and Scott Brown, fourth place; Gravity Vehicle: Stephen Kocsis and Eric Ryan, fifth place; MagLev: David Mellone and Rachel Sauder, sixth place; and Write It Do IT: Josh Sellers and Vinothan Sivapalan, sixth place.
Freshman placing in the Middle School Division were Disease Detective: Antal Silva, first place; Anatomy: Antal Silva and Marissa Weeks, third place; Forestry: Luke Ballard, third place; Rocks and Minerals: Leander Held and Marissa Weeks, fourth place; and Mission Possible: Luke Ballard, fifth place. The KMS Science Olympiad team also earned a place at the state tournament.
Bomberettes Win Again
The Kenston High School Bomberette Dance Team earned first place in their kick, pom and hip hop routines and Best Choreography at the regional competition held by Champion Cheer Central at Chardon High School. The team earned the highest scores at the competition.
This was the team’s third regional competition where they earned all first places on their routines. The team will compete at nationals held at the Cleveland Convention Center March 9 and 10.
The Bomberette Dance Team is led by captain Chloe Butler, co-captains Leah Grcevich and Nicki Severino, and officers Eryn Donnellon, Katie Gross and Selina Wilkerson. Other team members are Amelia Chandler, Ryliie Terrion, Taylor Tucholski, Graycen Wood, Victoria Clawson, Gabrielle Groff, Hayley Harris and La Joy William. Kathy Werner coaches the team.
Kindergarten Registration
Kindergarten registration is March 13 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 57 p.m. at Gardiner Early Learning Center, 9421 Bainbridge Road. Please bring the completed registration packet and calendar to registration.

Scholarship Applications
Kenston Foundation will award over $20,000 in scholarships to Kenston High School seniors this year. Applications for these scholarships are now available on the district website under Kenston Foundation. Applications must be turned in at the Kenston Board of Education by March 19.
